About Me

Hi, I’m Rahul 👋
I work as a data analyst at Google, but outside of work I’m someone who’s deeply curious about the world and the people in it.

I love traveling — not just for places, but for conversations, cultures, and stories. Beaches are my happy place (more than mountains), especially where life feels slow and simple. Music is always around me, whether I’m traveling, riding my bike, or just relaxing after a long day.

Sometimes I travel solo to clear my head and challenge myself, and sometimes I take long bike trips that turn into unexpected adventures. I enjoy meeting new people, listening to their stories, and sharing my own — I believe every person you meet leaves you with a lesson or a memory.

I’m easygoing, respectful, and value good energy, honesty, and meaningful connections. I’m always happy to share travel experiences, a meal, music, or just a good conversation.

Looking forward to meeting kind people from around the world 🌍

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe travel is about people, not just places. I enjoy experiencing destinations through local perspectives — everyday life, conversations, shared meals, and stories that you won’t find in guidebooks.

For me, Couchsurfing is a way to connect meaningfully with people from different cultures, exchange ideas, and build friendships that go beyond borders. I value respect, openness, and kindness, and I always try to be a considerate guest.

I’m not here just for a free place to stay — I’m here for cultural exchange, learning, and genuine human connection. Whether it’s talking about travel, music, life experiences, or simply sharing a cup of coffee, I appreciate the small moments that make travel memorable.

I also hope to give back to the Couchsurfing community by hosting and helping travelers whenever I can in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music plays an important role in my life. My favorite song is “The Nights” by Avicii — not just because of the music, but because of its message: “Live a life you will remember.” This song deeply inspired me to travel, explore the world, and live life to the fullest rather than just exist.

I’m a big movie lover — both Bollywood and Hollywood. From Bollywood, my all-time favorites are Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Dil Chahta Hai. These films resonate with me because they celebrate friendship, self-discovery, and travel. From Hollywood, Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart — I literally grew up watching those movies, and they still feel magical to me.

I wasn’t much into books in the beginning, but recently I’ve started reading to calm my mind and slow down. I enjoy books by Robin Sharma, especially The 5 AM Club and Who Will Cry When You Die? — they help me reflect, grow, and try to become a better human being.

I also love a bit of poetry (shayari). I enjoy reading works by Tehzeeb Hafi and Mirza Ghalib, and sometimes I even try writing a few lines myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are many amazing experiences in my life, but one moment stands out — something I know I’ll tell my kids about one day.

In Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, I did the longest river rafting stretch, which had more than 16 rapids, including a few big and intense ones. I don’t remember the exact names or grades of the biggest rapids, but I clearly remember the fear.

Before starting, when I stood close to the Ganga River, my mind was full of thoughts — what if something goes wrong? what if this is my last trip? The water looked powerful, cold, and unpredictable, and for a moment, fear completely took over.

But somehow, I decided not to let fear control me. I took a deep breath, trusted myself, and went for it.

When I jumped into the water, it was freezing cold, and the fear was still there — but slowly, as the rafting continued, that fear disappeared. It turned into excitement, joy, and a deep sense of being alive. By the end, I wasn’t scared anymore — I was smiling, laughing, and fully enjoying the moment.

That experience taught me something important: fear often comes before our best memories. Even today, that trip remains one of my most unforgettable experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy teaching through sharing — whether it’s stories from my travels, insights from my culture, or simple life lessons I’ve learned along the way. I’m always happy to share travel tips, bike-trip experiences, or meaningful conversations that inspire curiosity and openness.

I love learning from people and places. I’m genuinely curious about local cultures, daily life, traditions, and different ways of thinking. Every conversation teaches me something new, and I believe learning never stops when you keep an open mind.

I love sharing time, stories, music, meals, and laughter. For me, sharing creates real connections — the kind that turn strangers into friends. I enjoy honest conversations and small moments that make travel memorable and human.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good conversations, positive energy, and genuine respect for your home and time. I enjoy listening as much as talking, and I truly value meaningful connections over small talk.

I’m happy to share stories from my travels, bike trips, and life experiences, as well as conversations about culture, music, movies, and everyday life. If you enjoy calm evenings, deep talks, or even just sitting quietly with good company, I’ll fit right in.

I can also share my culture from India — food stories, traditions, and perspectives — and I’m always curious to learn about yours in return. I believe the best memories often come from simple moments: sharing a meal, a cup of tea, music, or laughter after a long day.

Most importantly, I bring gratitude, openness, and kindness. I treat every stay not as a free place to sleep, but as a shared experience built on trust and respect.
