About Me

Hi :)
My name is Rain and I am a psychology student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. But currently studying in Granada, Spain.
I was born on a very rainy day (very rare for southern California) so my parents, speaking very minimal english, decided to name me Rain.
I've always been really interested in traveling the world, experiencing new things, and challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone.

I am very easygoing, fun loving, and up for new adventures! I'm very clean and respectful of other peoples belongings and space.

I'll be able to host once I'm back in the states :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to get on couchsurfing because there is no better way to get to know a city than experiencing it with the locals. When I get to a new city, I try to get away from the touristy aspects and delve into whatever the locals are doing. When in Rome do as the Romans do, right?
I think this is what makes any new place feel magical.

Interests

I love long boarding, going to the beach, hiking on sunny days, playing soccer in the rain. Any outdoor activity, count me in!
Going to a beautiful school like UCSB makes it very difficult to avoid outdoor activities.

I grew up riding 4-wheelers, dirt bikes and hanging out in the dunes. It is still one of my favorite things to do and I hope to be able to share those special family experiences with my future family.

I have two dogs at home (the loves of my life): Kodah - a labrador greyhound mix that is about 14 years old (my old lady) and Gordo - a Pitbull who is 2 years old. I miss them tremendously!!! I love taking them to the beach and playing with them in my front yard. They are the oddest pair of pups to ever exist.

On that note, I am a super animal lover! I love all the creatures on this earth and get a little bit too excited upon interacting with them.

I love to learn new things and compare perspectives. I am very open-minded and excited to hear about any views you're willing to share with me as long as I can express my views just as freely as you can with me.

Yoga is one of my favorite activities, ever! (especially hot yoga) I am not the best at it but have been practicing for about a year now and I am completely in love. The freedom and tranquility that comes with the practice are eyeopening and have helped me become more comfortable with who I am and helped me appreciate the simple things in life like breathing, sweating and feeling every muscle in your body ache. lol

I also love music and browsing through soundcloud to find those sweet hidden gems! Going to music festivals with some of my closest friends is always a good time. Dancing, singing, and vibe-ing with other people that love music just as much as you do is awesome.

I am a huge fan of street art, graffiti, and various other types of art. I paint and draw occasionally, although I'm not that good. I love going to art museums and taking my time to really look at each piece and try to guess the intention behind it. I'm a psychology major so I think it's fun to try and get into the minds of some of the greatest artists in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite genre of music is hip hop: anything from j dilla to drake lol. My taste in music is also very diverse I can go from listening to Brahms Intermezzo in A major to David Bowie or Snoop Dogg. I was pretty much raised on The Beatles and Mexican Corridos. I'm all over the board musically and love exchanging musical interests with new people.

My favorite movie of all time is The Emperor's New Groove. (probably the most underrated disney movie ever, but it holds a special place in my heart). I am also slightly obsessed with documentaries and independent/foreign films. Watching movies if one of my favorite pass times and will never pass up the chance to grab some snacks and watch a cool flick.

My Favorite book is probably The Catcher in the Rye - cliche I know. But when I was a teenage going through my teen-angst phase, it was a book that I could relate to (or so I thought). I think what really caught my eye about this novel was the psychological aspect - I guess I've always been a nerd about that kind of stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done in my life so far has to be living abroad for 6 months. I have met some of the most amazing people and have fallen in love with a culture completely different from my own. It has been challenging, no doubt, but it has been the best experience of my life so far. And has sparked my interest in living abroad in the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about your culture through different types of foods (I would definitely eat my way through Europe if I could).

If I were to host you, you could expect a lot of laughs, a comfortable, safe environment, and a lot of pictures or videos of my puppies :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you host me, I can teach you Spanish and English and I'll share some of my delicious traditional Mexican recipes with you.
