About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy the concept of mini-retirements

ABOUT ME

Hi!,
After working for 5 years as a software engineer, I decided to take a mini-retirement to travel. I will be in France,Spain and England for almost 3 months this May-July 2013.

I am new to travelling for long periods of time and so am pretty excited about it.

I am currently studying French in Bordeaux and previously learnt French for a month in Lyon

PHILOSOPHY

Stefan Sagmeister gave an amazing talk which really inspired me to take some time off.

http://www.ted.com/talks/stefan_sagmeister_the_power_of_time_off.html.

I believe that we should work not to earn a paycheck but for a cause or for a passion or for ourselves.

I believe that learning is one of the best things we humans can do and I make it a point to learn atleast 1 hour everday

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: October Sky, Rocky
Books: I like to read biographies. Some of the most engaging ones I have found are by Richard Feynman, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
I also like books like AntiFragility by Nassim N Taleb.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Banff, Canada was one of those places. Scenic and Lovely.

Downtown NYC with its huge buildings does make one respect industry whether it warrants respect or not is a debatable point :)

Eastern Canada(Nova Scotia). The sea battered mountain cliffs and fall colors on the Cabot Trail make this a place that you have to visit during Summer or early Fall

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone how to program. Though professional programming requires a lot of dedication and discipline, hobby programming is fun, beautiful and liberating!
I love teaching people so I would be happy to give some people a few tips on programming software

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada
