About Me

I´m a 24 year old adventure seeking man from the Faroe Islands, an archipelago nation of 50,000 people. It´s a small, unique and nature rich place with a culture of strong trust and community. Growing up there has predisposed an affinity to explore exciting cultures and to meet novel and compelling people

I describe myself as a curious and exuberant, always wearing smile while being warm hearted.
I identify with the saying "learning is living" which is why chose the path of medicine for life-long learning carrier of medicine that fulfils my search for knowledge, as well as my altruistic desire of helping people. This passion of mine is confirmed from practical work experience in elderly home and psychiatric hospital.

For 5 years I have lived in a dormitory with shared kitchen, where I have learned the etiquette(e.g. hygiene and cleaning up after myself) and come to appreciate community of living together as a "family".
Moreover, in studying university in Copenhagen, I was a mentor, who took responsibility, set my mark on and arranged projects in the study start. This taught me the value of having unique networks and gifted me various people-oriented abilities.
Furthermore, I went to "Nordjobb" program( a Nordic labour market exchange programme) where I formed many life-long friends with other fellow young Nordic people during my stay.

I emphasise in my life: politeness, knowing how to have fun and being respectful when living and hanging out with people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to start my journey of becoming invested in the Couchsurfing community, i.e.
not just to pop on this site for a free place to stay, but rather to search for positive experiences
with local people from my travels and eventually host myself.
I got recommended CS by a travel buddy with much experienced, and I love the idea of getting to truly know locals instead staying in a generic hotel/hostel, which mostly look the same.
My dream is that I will form social connections that matter through CS, so as to build upon these relationships and create unforgettable memories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is my favorite form of art: I appreciate a wide variety of music but favorite genres are hip hop, which is so versatile and can be mixed with almost all styles of music.

Movies: no particular genre, but movies that get better and change with more viewings and provide an emotional and intellectual punch to the gut. Charlie Kaufman and Michael Haneke movies.

The books with the biggest impact on me are On the Road(a beat and counterculture tale of travelling across USA with jazz, poetry and drug use), One Hundred years of Solitude (an incredibly imaginative novel),
Lolita(an immaculate, unforgettable and beautifully written masterpiece). Also I can mention Grapes of Wrath,
Ham on Rye, Brave New World, 1984 and last but not least Catch 22.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Scandinavian languages and know how to cook dishes from nordic countries. I am eager to talk about the unique Faroese culture with its cuisine, music, literature, dances, clothes and much more.
I want to share musical experiences by jamming, if instruments are available. And I can teach playing guitar and piano.
I am always up to dive into fascinating discussion about natural sciences, such as the human body or,
how society works with politics and philosophy.
In addition, with regards to learning and sharing with new people, I strive to have a positive attitude and open mind and see through my biases.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to explore the local city and nature, such as hiking and various activities, which are offered.
I adore having fun playing games - e.g. boards and card games or drinking games, and games intended to getting to know each other better.
I also like to sit down in the evening and share stories about previous travel experience and describing places and human behaviour of diverse cultures types.
I am eager to go out for some partying and potentially some dancing too.
