About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find a balance between work & play
ABOUT ME
We like to discuss things with people from different countries, to translate, to play and to sing, to travel, to read, to play and watch football, to drink wine and beer in good company
Ranna has studied translating and she works now in a big German company. Jouni is a researcher in the University of Helsinki.
We are vegetarians and could be both categorized as liberal leftists. We share close ties to Germany and tend to visit there quite often.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We host and surf occasionally. We would like to host more and also meet people just for coffee or drinks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All our CouchSurfing experiences have been very positive. It's been really interesting and fun to discuss things (for example environmental issues, studying and working in different countries) with new people and to show places and to share a part of my life with others.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: our common liking is power metal like Rhapsody. We listen to all kinds of rock music. Ranna sings in a choir, so classical music is not a tabu either.
Ranna likes Michael Moore's and Morgan Spurlock's documentary films and finds films like X-men, Matrix, 300, V for Vendetta and Pirates of the Caribbean very entertaining. In the genre of "serious" films our favourites are e.g. Painted veil, Match point, Broken flowers, Paths of glory, Underground, Dog day afternoon and Blood diamond. We usually like German films, e.g. Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei, Good bye Lenin!, Die Fälscher and Das Leben der Anderen.
About books: we read in Finnish, English or German. Lately Ranna enjoyed Khaled Hosseini's A thousand splendid suns, Markus Zusak's The book thief and Natasha Solomons' Mr. Rosenblums list.
Teach, Learn, Share
Of course we can tell you about this strange language, Finnish. We renovated the apartment ourselves and learned quite a lot doing it so if you're interested just ask... Ranna can also teach you how to knit woollen socks ;)
