Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

had a great time hosting and showing my hometown around, connecting with amazing people i'd never meet otherwise, learning about different cultures and broadening my own.

it's impressive to see that sometimes we have so much in commom with someone else from the other side of the world, raised in a completely different way and yet sharing something that you can relate.

Interests

food and cuisine, music in general, different cultures and different angles from the same weird experience of being alive.

people in general are amusing and everybody has something to share.

Music, Movies, and Books

post-modernism isn't quite enough. neither is eclecticism.

pedro almodóvar, quentin tarantino, gaspar noé, stanley kubrick, and well, why not spielberg?

thom yorke, ed o'brien, colin greenwood, philip selway, morrisey, johnny marr, seb rocheford, and myself, on air drums.

pyotr dostoiévski, josé saramago, moacir scliar, john fante, franz kafka, pierre clastres, douglas adams are more than just weird names.

grant morrisson, alan moore, neil gaiman, warren ellis, chris ware, art spielgelman, and... okay, garth ennis is a guilty pleasure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

watching the same sunset, from the peninsule across from my hometown, from the same spot, and watching the sun going down slowly behind the buildings with many, many different people, on many different ocasions for the past years. the talks. the silence. being in touch with people - even the ones that I know I won't ever seen again, is fascinating.

seems like a simple, boring thing, but to me, it represents lots of moments of pure, intense feelings, and eventho the sunset is "the same", how much have i changed.

Teach, Learn, Share

i'm a bit of a foodie, so yeah, i try to learn at least one dish from the country of the people I meet/host, and also i always try to share - i mean, teach! - brazilian recipes. but hey, being a foodie doesn't mean i'm a great cook...but i try my best and everybody's still alive!

I also love languages, so teaching Portuguese is not an ordeal for me, being a teacher myself, it is indeed a great experience to share this language which I adore and think is a really beautiful one.
