There's a lot to tell, so in a nutshell my name is Raz as you might already know ;)
Traveling is a passion of mine (like all of us here right ?)
I'm an adventurous guy , extreme sports is a part of me (mountain biking , snowboarding)
I consider myself spiritual I like to do meditations and to practice mindfulness etc.
being out there in nature is where I feel extremely alive ,
but with the right people I can feel that way anywhere .
I like both light vibrate talks and more deep philosophical conversations
about the mystery of the universe and the human mind.
By now you might think I'm cool . so yeah it's true but in fact I'm also a nerd
so I guess I'm a cool nerd , I read lots of books and I love lord of the rings.
I'm also humble , almost forgot to mention that :P

being out there traveling the world alone can be fun , like lots of fun
but I know it's not the full package the world can offer, It's kinda shallow to me.
and I'm an over-achiever who doesn't settle and if I can get the best I will find a way to get it :)
So here I am , looking to get the full package , to actually know the places I go from the inside out
the culture , the people , the smells , the slang , the humor
to get the real experience :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

now for real , helping other people is always satisfying and amazing,
so It was near winter time , I was about to reach the beach promenade
and had some energy bars with me and I ate them on the walk . now as i was walking I saw an homeless dude
sitting in the corner , I didn't had any change on me but I had that one energy bar that I haven't ate yet
So I gave it to him , immediately a smile appeared on his face and that made me instantly smile.
since then I'm aiming for one good deed a day :)

Alright let's learn how to meditate ;)
first let's pump you up with a bit of the benefits of meditation
so you will be motivated to try in the first place.
1. Increase in focus
So meditation can increase your focus what basically means increase your attention span
so you can concentrate on tasks longer without getting distracted (even if there's external distractions like people talking or the dog is barking , how cool is that?)
2. Reduces Stress
When is the last time you mind got a break ?
not to mention stressful external causes , we can provoke stress internally
when is the last time you stopped thinking ? Anxiety is caused by overthinking the future and depression is caused by overthinking the past . we truly can be peaceful by being in the now
meditating can help you take a break for a few moments to be fully in the now.

3. Enhances Self-Awareness
Alright I will be short on this one , all I can tell you by practicing for long enough
you will start to be more aware of yourself , meditation is about observation
once you are enough skilled observer you have this ability to turn zoom out by demand
to look aside of yourself objectively, without being biased by your own emotions
we also call it , being free from the ego (that's the result of being truly in the now)
If you practice it long enough you might even reach nirvana :P
By being more aware you will start to understand how your sub-consciousness is programmed
(or ego whatever) you will start to notice thinking patterns , behavioral patterns
maybe you will notice if you are lying to yourself or in denial of something
and if it doesn't serve you in life you can even act upon and actively change it
but that's for other day ;)
Alright let's get practical , you should be excited by now.
The simplest form and the most common one without complicating too much:
It's better to set a timer ahead let's say 5 minutes.
Sit down comfortably , back straight , close your eyes.
now as you are breathing . focus on that , whether it's the movement of your belly
or the subtle sensations of the nose , you can follow the breathing pattern also
it doesn't really matter just choose to focus on one thing.
we will do that until the timer is over.
as you are doing that I guess thoughts are starting to pop up
maybe your mind is full of thoughts , maybe you are questioning yourself how much time is left for the timer
maybe you are starting to plan things , like washing the dishes or whatever.
It's all about awareness here. thoughts are okay , It's natural , all you got to do is to get your focus back to the breathing , don't try to fight it , even if you got your focus back for one second that's awesome
this type of meditation is all about practice, the longer you practice
the longer you will be able to focus on one thing without getting pulled by your thoughts
in fact it will be easier cause it almost seems like there's no thoughts at all
at least not impulsive thoughts , and that's awesome
