About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore Europe with musical instruments in tow, meet great people along the way!
ABOUT ME
Joey and I both graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle. We embarked shortly thereafter on our first travel adventure together. We've found we're more interested in the thorough experience, preferring to spend more time in a single place. We spent 9 months in New Zealand, 3 in Australia. An acting opportunity brought us back to the U.S. and we have really enjoyed the bouncing-around lifestyle that acting affords. We are based in New York City now, pursuing theatre here. I'm looking forward to going back to school for my MFA come September. In the meantime, Joey and I are yearning to take in parts of the world we've never seen before, and play music together.
PHILOSOPHY
Live with an open heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Meeting amazing locals in new places is the real deal. Not only is there a wealth of knowledge about where you're visiting, but there is an opportunity to learn and grow as a human, expand your scope of what it is to live the good life, and participate in just some good old wacky, awesome experiences. We have yet to be in a position to host, but look forward to having a place where we can do so.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A 9-month tour of New Zealand in 2013 was enriched by some fantastic couch surfing times throughout. Our last stay, just before flying out of Christchurch, was in the home of a Canadian couple with two children that had recently moved there. Despite the recent move, they were letting 6 couchsurfers take over their living room. Awesome to see that level of generosity.
Interests
Music! Joey has been playing guitar for most of his life, and he's teaching me the mandolin. We arrange and sing songs together. We love discovering where music takes us.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bob Dylan, Dirty Projectors, Blues, Folk, Rock, Celtic, Swing...
Eternal Sunshine, Birdman, Away We Go, The One I Love...
Dave Eggers, Hemingway, Shakespeare!...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Participated in the "desembarco", a traditional Spanish festival in Villajoyosa commemorating the pirate wars that once happened on the mediterranean.
Joey: Jumped from a 50-foot cliff into a deep river bed in Australia. There was enough time in the air to have a few thoughts about the experience as it was happening.
We both participated in 10 days of silence and Vipassana meditation at a retreat in New Zealand.
Teach, Learn, Share
Joey teaches guitar and mandolin! Let's talk music theory, too. We love sharing good food and exchanging travel stories. And maybe we can impart some of our love for theatre. We love getting to know a bit of our hosts' way of life. Our first hosts in NZ were body painters and we were thrilled to be canvases for a day! Joey shaved all his body hair. We're always content exploring on our own as well, whatever suits our host.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Art, food, experiences, anything! We love the chance to leave behind a drawing, a song, we've enjoyed cooking with/for hosts, providing a bottle of wine... or two.
