About Me
Hola! I am Rosa Karina from a border town in Northern Mexico I was born and raised in sunnyside community land and have spent the majority of my early years in the heat and sunny Desert which I Love. When moving to a "bigger" city I realized that living in a border town I grew up speaking Spanglish which is great, but not a typical way to express yourself. My love for languages begun when I heard native Mexican indigenous people wanting to preserve their native language and keep transcending these traditions and culture through language. I began to appreciate language after attending college and experiencing culturally diverse communities. In my border town, I grew up with diverse immigrant farmworkers and literally did not know what it meant to be in culturally diverse environments other than in our own Mexican roots. For this, the past years I have been in search of seeking what I did not grow up watching on TV(because I did not own one) and more than anything Learn in perspective about a Human being living in different socially and culturally diverse environments and especially learn how other border towns across the world work.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a great community which I want to experience what culture means through the eyes of the native people and travelers who belong there. I also truly believe Couchsurfing is a great way to meeting phenomenal people who are willingly honestly and purely open to sharing about how and why they also became part of this culture exchange community and how they came to be who they are now in their lives.
