About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live. Laugh. Love.

ABOUT ME

In a nutshell, I'm mildly awkward, moderately adventurous, and widely passionate.
I'm spiritual, but not religious; Liberal but not into politics (if I can help it).
I'm goofy, poetic, friendly and a bit shy. I strive to be as open and non-judgmental as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to believe that people are generally good by nature. That's why I love the idea behind Couchsurfing. It reinforces the notion that we are a global community and (hopefully) will help us to stop fearing one another.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to have people over and eventually enjoy the hospitality of others. Right now, I'm in the "checking it out" phase.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any experience with this yet and must admit I'm a bit nervous (flashes of Criminal Minds and Hostel movies keep creeping through my mind).

Interests

I love to learn the history of just about anything (all the WHYs and HOWs fascinate me). I enjoy quite nights with the family and fun-filled weekends with the girls. A glass of wine and a good book are two things I enjoy on a regular basis.
I'm a fan of The Walking Dead; Game of Thrones and... reluctantly... True Blood.
I read romance novels (just about any genre) and write them too.
I'm trying out a few language programs in hopes of learning Italian (no particular reason other than it seems like a fun language).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost any movie genre. My all-time favorite movies (one's I can watch over and over) are: Independence Day, Armageddon, Steel Magnolias (when I want to cry), Ever After, Sense and Sensibility, Much Ado About Nothing, Three Musketeers, Finding Nemo, Cowboys and Aliens, Serenity and the whole Firefly series.
My music tastes are eclectic- just depends on the mood. I love everything from Carrie Underwood to Eminem to Orchestra. I sing soprano in a secular choir in Birmingham and whatever else I like on the drive home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been blessed to have many awe-inspiring moments in my life. Most were as terrifying as they were beautiful and all brought to light how very large the world is and how very tiny our perspectives tend to be.
One instance that comes to mind happened while snorkeling alone just off the shore of Roatan, Honduras. It was so beautiful and it made me realize just how small we (humans) are in relation to all that is around us. Additionally, knowing that there were creatures near that were higher up on the food chain kept me grounded very much in the present.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wouldn't mind helping people who are interested in learning American Sign Language. I'm also a writer, so I could help with some basics.
I'm also a decent "Southern" cook.
I would LOVE to learn about various cultures and maybe some of their "home cooking" recipes.

Countries I’ve Visited
