Über mich
I grew up on a bit of land to the north of Perth, WA. There was heaps of open spaces and a local swamp that my siblings and I would go to. We spent the summers sleeping outside under a tree cos it was so hot inside. We had an assortment of animals too; chickens, ducks, geese, horses, sheep, cows and of course dogs and cats. It's probably this which helped shape my love of the outdoors and animals. I really love camping out and hiking. I've also enjoyed kayaking and cycling. At home I loved spending time in my garden of the hammock.
I studied at university before working in a nursery and then with local governments to monitor and reduce carbon emissions. This is where my interest in sustainability started and I'm thinking of doing further studies at some point in the future.
I'm moving from Australia to the UK because I want to explore Europe and it's more accessible from the UK but first I'm doing a bit of travel.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
One of the people I met at a hostel said he'd had some great experiences and met wonderful people through couch surfing so I thought I'd give it a go.
I really like the idea of going to a foreign city and meeting someone who lives in the city that can give pointers on where the locals go. There's plenty of tourist brochures if I want to stick to the same path as everyone else :-)

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Music
Asgier is my favourite artist at the moment however I like a pretty wide range of music types. Some of the other artists I like are Angus and Julia Stone, Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Imagine Dragons, Lindsey Stirling, John Butler Trio, Chet Faker, MS MR, the Naked and Famous, Passenger, Peking Duk, Snow Patrol, The Wombats amongst many others. The only type I can think of that I really don't like is heavy metal.
Movies
Not in to horror movies or some thrillers. I'm a chicken and they scare me and then I don't sleep for a week or more and that makes me grumpy. :-)
My favourite movie is The Intouchables and some others that I like are the Note Book, Chocolate, Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR, Love Actually. I'm sure there's many more that I just can't think of at the moment :-)
Books
I don't read that much but I'm currently reading an autobiography called "a Wife on George River". I have enjoyed a few of Matthew Reilly (action) and Racheal Treasures (country romance) books.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Just 1!!
Walked 100km for Oxfam Trailwalker on two separate occasions. The first year it took 36 hours and 34 minutes the second year it took 34 hours and 32 minutes. My goal is 30 hours though so I'll have to keep trying :-D
I went skydiving in Queenstown, NZ and lived it. I really want to do it again, but the next time will be in Switzerland.
I BASE jumped from the sky tower in Auckland, NZ. This is not something I ever thought I'd do. It was pretty fun but over all too quick.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Hmmm, at work I was always asked about excel so I can give pointers there. If you want help with English I could do that too.
I'm interested in learning another language particularly German and French. I'm actually thinking of taking classes once I get settled in the UK.
I can share my experiences so far and I'd be happy to cook too. It won't be traditional Australian, I'm not sure we really have a traditional meal. I also like making cheesecakes so if you have a sweet tooth I could do that.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I thought this was covered already? I can share a drink or two and food.
