I find couchsurfers to be the best guests and conversationalists. They always give me a fresh perspective on my stomping grounds and they renew my enthusiasm for travel. I know that traveling can be very expensive and I like helping couchsurfers afford to throw darts at the map.

I ended up "sleeping" (read: huddling in fear, clutching my walking stick in the dark) on the side of a dormant volcano in Costa Rica because I didn't plan my hike well enough. Perhaps not "amazing", but a great story now!
