About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exchange interesting stories with other people, get out of my comfort zone a bit, and enjoy traveling to a variety of places.

ABOUT ME

Friends, coworkers, and family members tend to describe me as:
- caring and conscientious
- clean and organized
- reliable and responsible
- adventurous yet reasonable/cautious
- independent

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm, you can probably fill this in based on the other parts of my profile...

Perhaps to live in the moment and carpe diem but be mindful of the consequences, both positive and negative, that may follow each moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Despite being a member of couch-surfing since 2012, I'm rather new to the surfing community (when I joined it was more to see what this was about but 2014 was the first time I actually surfed). I go to school in a small town where people are unlikely to visit so at the moment I'm mostly looking to surf. Once I'm living in a place that attracts more visitors, I'd love to host travelers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet. I look forward to filling in this section with some great stories and memories!

Interests

- learning
- sharing stories
- classical music and jazz
- cooking/eating
- exploring and people/nature watching
- academic: see education

I also like more (perhaps superficial) things like roller coasters, downhill skiing, skating/hockey (I'm Canadian after all!), playing soccer, and more!

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical, many periods, instrumental, vocal, etc.
Jazz (esp. relaxing nightclubs like in NYC)
Just about any other music as long as it isn't so loud that my ears ring after listening to it!

Books: too many too list. Some recent favorites: Heat (Bill Buford) and Predictably Irrational (Dan Ariely). There's also a series of hilarious kids books by Gordon Korman that I absolutely love (yes, I still read them from time to time as an adult). Currently reading The Perilous Life of Symphony Orchestras (Robert Flanagan)

Movies: I tend not to watch many (I grew up with the TV in the sunroom; a room that was only a reasonable temperature ~4 months of the year, so I didn't develop much of a movie habit). Amadeus is one of my favorites and I like the old Freaky Friday (1976).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure there's any ONE thing I'd qualify as AMAZING over all others...

Some adventures I've been on: taking a greyhound bus from Ottawa to North Carolina for a summer music camp when I was 17 (including a 3hr evening transfer at Port Authority, Times Square!), living with a host family for 10 weeks this summer in the Hudson Valley, where I was doing an internship in arts management consulting, and more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be happy to share and teach anything I've mentioned here as being interested in or partaking in.

I am a curious person with many things I'd like to learn

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer companionship, a different perspective on many current issues, and the odd delicious meal! I can also be someone to bounce ideas off of and to engage with in an intellectual-style debate. My hosts, however, will likely be better judges of what I may offer (including things I don't realize).

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
