i take a lot of photos, maybe too many, especially when traveling.

design, awareness of our surroundings and how we fit into places is something i pay attention to.

i like both nature and cities, and don't mind getting lost.

i like to cook, but only vegetarian, and am quite fond of baking.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

while i lived in scandinavia i surfed on couches in a number of countries/cities. i have had really positive experiences with both hosts and meeting with people for coffee/drinks in their cities when they're not hosting. i like to meet new/interesting people on my journey, and continue to use couchsurfing as i live in the usa again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

my brother started hosting, and that got me interested in the community at first. my own experience so far has mostly been surfing and meeting people in the places i'm traveling.

my first hosts were in the UK and they were wonderful! since then i have surfed in sweden, norway, finland, and iceland.

learning, reading, experiencing other cultures first hand, craftsmanship, photography, woodworking, ceramics, cooking (and eating), people watching, really good coffee, really good beer

skiing, drawing, swimming, kayaking, soccer (ok i mean football, but i'm american), watching sporting events in person (never on tv), live music, spontaneous dance parties.

i am a big fan of nature, growing things, orchards, forests, beaches, and mountains... i.e. most landscapes.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

walking on the frozen baltic sea in the middle of finnish wintertime. stunningly silent except for the crunch of snow underneath my feet.

years ago i studied in nairobi, kenya. with 4 other friends we hiked to the top of mt kenya for new years. we were able to watch the sun rise from the peak as the new year began.
