About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a California Chicana through and through – born east of Los Angeles, childhood between there and Tijuana, and most of my adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I love to share meals, a cup of coffee, or a beer and conversation with people. I believe we each have a story and something to teach others – I'm eager to hear others and learn. I equally enjoy sharing mine as well, for the curious.

A calm, gentle, inviting demeanor, and smile with ease. I'm easy going – content reading a book, writing or napping. But I'm also quite the mover and a shaker. I especially enjoy being out and about when traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had super positive experiences with CS when traveling through Europe in 2013. I've been happily returning the favor for visitors coming through Oakland, California and find the exchange to be deeply soul nurturing.

I'm very much looking forward to visiting a couple of new cities this time around in Europe, to the kinds of people one meets via Couchsurfing, and introducing my childhood best friend to the CS experience.

Interests

I enjoy going to museums and visiting historic monuments, but am happiest running through big cities, hiking in national or neighborhood parks, and taking a book out to the beach and reading between napping and swimming. I enjoy chatting with people and value good, honest conversation. I appreciate good food and brews. I enjoy going out and about on my own, and making new friends. The LA girl in me loves to dance and sing, and always will – salsa, bachata, cambia, anything sabroso, hip hop, funk, anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Old R&B Soul, 90's hip hop/rap, reggae, mariachi, boleros, cumbia, and so much more. One of my favorite parts of traveling and meeting travelers is discovering new jams and tunes.

Movies: I'm not personally a huge movie buff, but do enjoy watching films with others. Especially when someone strongly feels I can't live my life not having ever seen a particular film – like Baraka.

Books: I read mostly non-fiction and historical fiction. The last book I read was "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down", and I am currently reading "El Mundo de Sofía."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

See human beings give birth to other littler human beings.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always enjoy opportunities to speak more spanish. I'm also happy to do english language exchanges.

I enjoy sharing a meal and/or coffee and tea with CS hosts. I also understand though how our days are often full and I'm just as happy and fully capable of entertaining myself. That said, if you're days are full and you wouldn't mind having a meal ready for you when you get home–I can do that!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. Smiles. Yummy meals. Good Vibes.
