Abito da Gennaio 2012 a Cittanova nella piana di Gioia Tauro col mio marito Rocco e le nostre piccole Elena (2 anni) e Serena (pochi mesi). È qui in mezzo alla bellissima natura che stiamo imparando a vivere veramente. Lui ha un pezzo di terra, un 'ulivaru' che stiamo coltivando alberi di frutta, campetti di verdura e galline. Al momento passiamo il nostro tempo fra il lavoro in campagna e dentro casa, le attività con e per le bimbe, la nostra vita sociale qui in paese, e a volte intrapendere dei viaggi per visitare i nostri cari. Io sono innamorata di Cittanova, con la sua acqua buona, l'aria pulita, le stradine caratteristiche e panorami suggestivi (-vecchiette importune).

Non siamo sempre qua, però quando siamo qua, ci fa molto piacere ospitare.

I have been living in Cittanova in the Rosarno plain since 2012 with my husband Rocco and our little daughters Elena (2) and Serena (few months). It is here in this beautiful setting at the foot of the Aspromonte mountains that we are doing our best to live well and raise a family. We have a small olive grove that we are cultivating with various fruit trees, chaotic vegetable garden-experiments and some chickens. We spend our time between work on the land and activities with and around our girls , socialising in the town, and occasionally make trips abroad to visit our friends and relatives. I love Cittanova, even if life here is commonly considered´´not easy´´, for its fountains of pure water, its clean air, picturesque streets and pleasing views.

It is not guaranteed that we are always here, but when we are here, we love to host.

La Calabria è veramente bella, e Cittanova anche, e quindi vogliamo condividere il posto che abbiamo scelto per vivere coi nostri ospiti.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

La prima volta era a Leeds, UK, nella 2008. Poi nella 2015, una volta 'messo radice' abbiamo ospitato tre francesi simpatici e giovani per due notte qui a Cittanova. Il nostro viaggio di nozze abbiamo fatto nella Pianura Piadana sul risció, una specie di tricicletta con dietro posto per due passagieri, e abbiamo avuto la fortuna di trovare degli ospiti, uno a Cremona e uno altro a Santa Giuletta, che hanno participato a rendere il nostro viaggio ancora piú speciale. Oltre a queste esperienze di Couchsurfing, da quando abitiamo in Calabria, specialmente durante i mesi caldi abbiamo avuto continuativamente degli ospiti, chi per un giorno, chi per qualche settimana. Il nostro ultimo ospite, prima che ci dedicassimo alla nascita della nostra seconda bambina, è stato il giovane couchsurfer giapponese Kazu, che abbiamo avuto l'onore di ospitare nell'ultima tappa del suo viaggio durato anni fra il Giappone e l'Europa. The first time was in Leeds, UK, in 2008. Then in 2015 after I/we'd laid down roots in Cittanova, we hosted three young and very friendly french people for two nights. Then shortly after we did a rickshaw (a tricicle with space for two passengers) tour of Pianura Piadana, N. italy, for our honeymoon, and were fortunate to find hosts in Cremona and again in Santa Giuletta who contributed to making our journey extra special. In addition to these experiences we have had a regular stream of guests to our home, ever since we arrived in Calabria. Our last guest before we started putting all our energy into the birth of our second child was the joung japanese traveller and couchsurfer Kazu, who we had the honour to be the last host of on his years long journey from Japan to Europe. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have given birth at home, here in Cittanova. If you are a woman, and had a similar experience, then you may understand what I mean about it being an amazing experience.
