Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to now, I've forgotten all about my Couchsurfing account, but now I want to travel, couchsurf, meet new people through the site, help travellers in Beijing and potentially start hosting myself as soon as I get a bigger place to live and more space to breathe...

Interests

Art, photography, crafts, writing, drinking beer (and cider when I'm in a country that sells it), music, folk music, festivals of all descriptions, cycling the streets, sitting in coffee shops, people watching and trying to reclaim the chunks of memory that regularly disappear.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hayao Miyazaki, Anime, Jean-Pierre Jeunet films, anything with Gael Garcia Bernal or John Cusack in, recently rediscovered a passion for the Bond films, particularly those with little acting and lots of shocking one-liners. Most 80's and 90's cheese-filled classics.
Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Beirut Band, The Flaming Lips, Stornoway, The Cinematic Orchestra, Xu Wei, folk music, most things with trumpets in..
I like books too, particularly art books and beautiful picture books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My memory is atrocious so specific examples elude me, which is probably why I feel the need to keep finding new things to do and places to be. Probably something related to a sunset/rise in Hampi in India (my favourite place in the world - so far), jumping out of an aeroplane, and seeing Egon Schiele's paintings in the flesh (so to speak).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my cooking skills, although that mainly involves chucking a loads of stuff in a pan and hoping for the best. Usually comes out pretty well though.

Countries I’ve Visited
