About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living the best life we can and helping others to do the same!

ABOUT ME

We live on a farm in the Napa Valley. We have sheep, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, Australian Cattle Dogs, cats and one goofy Labradoodle. We have a large vegetable garden, fruit and nut trees and a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard. We sell produce from the farm directly and give away any oversupply to the local food bank. We welcome day visitors to the farm and love sharing this beautiful area with cityfolk. Kirsten (thats's me)is a massage thearpist which allows her time to do lots of other things in life like farming and volunteering on the board of the Napa Valley Marathon. Ron has recently relocated to Napa from Reno. He has a business background and is now working in law enforcement (he is one of the good guys).
Our dogs are our children although we enjoy visits from our nieces and any other children who would like to experience the farm.

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness is a daily Decision

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We used to host surfers on a regular basis (Kirsten still thinks Couchsurfing.org is one of the best inventions of the last 20 years), but since we really need help with the farm we more often have WWOOFers (another fantastic invention).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We "surfed" four nights during our travels in New Zealand, it really was a great experience for us. As far as hosting, we have been known to bring home people we meet at work or concerts who would otherwise not have a place to stay or be facing a long drive home.

Interests

Kirsten and Ron (aka Cobalt! and DustOff) are both very active in the Burning Man community as Black Rock Rangers. We love sharing our adventures in Black Rock City and the Burning Man Ethos. We also enjoy music of all kinds, books, animals, wines, food, travel, NIA, gardening, working, visiting with people, meteorite hunting, hunting, fishing, camping...

Music, Movies, and Books

We love music. Kirsten is a classically trained pianist. We particularly like to attend concerts in small venues where Kirsten can sit at the musicians feet.
Kirsten is an avid reader of sci-fi, fantasy and history (mostly in the form of biographies/autobiographies) but will also read just about anything as long as it is well written.
I am currently reading: The Omnivore's Dilema, Katz on Dogs, The Magic of Conflict and A Perfect Harmony.
Ron likes to read books about history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking on Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand, spending countless hours at watering holes in Etosha Game Park, Namibia, hiking to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, walking barefoot through Muir Woods. Oh yes, and assisting in two human births, 25 canine births and several lambings.

Teach, Learn, Share

Between the two of us we have a lot to share:
wines (making and drinking), farming, gardening, travels, NIA, sheep, nature, languages, cooking, the importance of supporting local businesses especially farms - eating locally....

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
