ABOUT ME

I'm just basically a guy in his forties who has chosen to step outside of the rat race. I traveled in Central America in my 20's and had a great experience. I've never really been one to buy in to all that society has to offer, so I have tried to live my life on my own terms out on the fringe.
I've figured out that one of the best ways to be able to travel to other places and truly experience the local culture is to take a job there; so that's where I'm at now.

PHILOSOPHY

Live my life exactly as I see fit without infringing on anybody else's ability to exactly the same.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a decent sized flat on the west End of Catalina Island, where I'm willing to host anybody who wants to come out for a few days and enjoy the pleasures of the Pacific Ocean.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed through a six-week roadtrip of the Western United States back in the mid-nineties, and a bit while traveling in Guatemala while I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize. In Belize I would also open my flat up to people traveling through. It was often a good experience, getting to meet people that you would never meet otherwise.

I've read most of the beat writers, and heroin writer's, and tend to enjoy alternative fiction-although I do occasionally have a go at the classics. In movies I prefer dramas that cause one to think. Musically, I'm an old-school punk, but my tastes are pretty varied and eclectic.

I'm just looking to become more human and hope to be able to do my small part in the development of the human race. I've seen a lot and experienced a lot, and though I don't pretend to be open-minded, I am open to new experiences and points of view.
