About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do something that scares me everyday

ABOUT ME

After three years of teaching in an intense environment I'm ready for something new ... a big fat scary life affirming fulfilling mouth-watering adventure. I've learnt how grounding it can feel to stay still and now my feet are beginning to feel itchy - time to move again. In February I'm going to be a volunteer teacher trainer for two years with an International Charity called VSO, probably Africa, but who knows where life will take me. But in the mean time I fully intend on having some mini-adventures here in Bristol, and further afield in Europe. I love anything involving a camp fire, the woods, big fields, beer, snacks, big skies, good music, irresponsible people, fancily dressing, cream teas, red wine, yellow things, face painting, looking at maps and fantasising, hammocks, tea drinking, cake eating, windy walks, silliness, dangerous tricks, gin and tonic, talking, eating, talking whilst eating, making plans for when I chose to be beautifully irresponsible again, writing lists for when I get round to finally doing things, cider, going barefoot...people.

PHILOSOPHY

When in doubt, eat cake!
I believe your 20s are there for you to experiment with, make a mess of, be spontaneous in, take risks in, be irresponsible with, run away, run back, go broke, live on a shoe string and learn that human nature is actually fundamentally good...unfortunately I'm in my thirties now, but I still want to be allowed to make beautiful mistakes and still believe in the goodness of what life has to offer if only you are willing to embrace it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to work abroad running gap year projects and tour leading, but I've made a grown up decision to qualify as a teacher as it will eventually give me the freedom to teach anywhere in the world. Meanwhile I want to keep my world wide and I think CS is an amazing idea. I've experienced nothing but good stuff since being introduced and am constantly being reminding of how good people are.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had unexpected kindness extended to me at unexpected times, I think that's what it's all about. Only a couple of official couch surfing experience but plenty of other good couch events...Ireland, Scotland, Canada, El Salvador, Mexico....there are some good people out there.

Interests

I'm really getting into growing things - flowers and veggies, I'm loving my summer festivals and fancy dressing. Yoga when I find the time, walking, drinking tea and eating cake with friends, making earrings, buying earrings, commenting on others earrings, going to see good music, camping. And now I'm wanting a very patient person to teach me how to play guitar!
