I've had great couchsurfing experiences in Italy, France, Finland and Ukraine. It is a great concept - to share and to trust, and a way to get to know people one would not meet in day to day life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I stayed in Kazakhstan for a year for work I've met two french guys who left their home country years ago to walk around the world. In Almaty they were just waiting for a visa for China. They've had so many crazy stories to tell. In the desert for instance they lived on water and flour which they prepared with a wood fire. They filtered the salty desert water to survive. Compared to them, I felt like an ignorant Sunday tourist. I don't feel like I have done so many amazing things compared to that.
