About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn about the world through your personal experiences!

ABOUT ME

I consider myself a very open-minded and respectful person. I've lived and study in several places which provides me at least with one or two interesting stories!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Until now I've been a surfer. After I come back from Israel I would like to host people at my apartment in Bogotà if anybody is interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well until now, my only couchsurfing experience has been my trip to Rio de Janeiro on June 2012.

It was great! I was hosted by Marina Lara a sweet and interesting girl from Brasilia.

She was staying a couple of days on Rio Janeiro while covering the Rio +20 conference.

We attended several events together on climate change, social entrepeneurship and sustainable arquitecture, among others .

I learn a lot about the Brazilian culture with her! She took me to Santa Teresa and Lapa where we danced Samba and drank some Caipirinhas =).

We walked by the lovely streets of Rio and look at the stars 2 a.m. on Ipanema Beach.

Definitly an unforgetable experience. Marina open her house to me in a way I hadn't experienced before.

I didn't became just her guest but her friend. A feeling which usually doesn't surges as quickly.

I would never be able to thank Marina.

It's incredible that despite diversity at the end we are all human beings, my conclusion on this couchsurfing experience is simple.

Friends and lasting memories can be found anywhere, you just have to look out for them.

I would dare anybody to try it! You won't regret it!

Interests

I like learning languages. So far I´ve learned English, German, Danish, Portuguese and Spanish. I regularly participate in athletic competitions. Mainly 10k and 5k, still training for my first half-marathon!. Brazilian girls definitively. I like dancing salsa and try to dance samba. If you like science fiction I am in. I usually go out on weekends and have one or two social beers. I am very curious about foreign cultures and open to experience their foods, drinks, music and sense of humor.
And yes even in the most weird and unexpected places there is somebody who can make you laugh! Believe it or not Danish people are actually funny!.
On a more serious note, business topics such as entrepreneurship, finance and international economics are on my usual chat.
As a former AFS exchange student and AIESEC team-member who stayed at a host families.
I completely understand the meaning of kindness and goodwill involved in hosting and the responsibilities of being a guest. From this experience I treasure friendships and memories that will last forever.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Science Fiction books don't ask me why. Asimov , Phillip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, H.G. Wells,Orson Scott Card , among others. l've also read Latin American authors such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa and Borges. Well when it comes to music I consider myself a crossover listener. From Rock and Roll,Indie, Metal to Salsa and Samba you name it!. I like assisting to live music events of Jazz, Blues, Bossa Nova, etc. Well movies, to be honest I hate chickflicks(no offense) and Tim Burton movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Taking a bath under a waterfall in the middle of the Venezuelan Rainforest.
-Flying over Angel Falls with my father.
-Watching the sunrise in Ipanema Beach RJ, Brazil.
-Dancing Forro with my friends and a bunch of strangers in Santa Teresa, RJ, Brazil.
-AFS gatherings in Copenhaguen, Koege.
-Festa Junina with my AIESEC friends

Teach, Learn, Share

Ok I'll post a couple of interesting remarks on this one. Very useful when meeting people from Scandinavia!
If you are learning Danish, Norwegian or Swedish this might come in handy.

When you say "I am glad for you" on one of this languages it literally means "I like you"(in a romatic way), it took me a couple of misunderstandings to figure it out! Don't make the same mistake as I did!.

This one is for those who are learning Portuguese. If you ask a question and somebody answers "Pois náo" it doesn't mean "But no", it means "yes". I believe this point is more clear for spanish speaking people!
