Hi!

I'm Remco, a 21 year-old 2nd Master student Electrical Engineering from Brussels who has a passion for traveling. Although I have not done any long travels yet, I have traveled a lot in Europe or just outside. I'm planning to do big travels in the years to come and by an Erasmus+ exchange I'm studying (and living) 6 months in Italy, I hope to learn a lot from this experience.

I have a big interest for all kind of sports but especially for Football and Cycling. I'm fan of the Belgian football team RSC Anderlecht and, of course, of the Belgium National team. I'm also a big fan of eating, especially the Italian cooking style and ice-creams. I like social contact and get to know people better and learning about other styles of live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This semester (September 2018-February 2019) I'm doing an Erasmus exchange to Roma (La Sapienza) and will hence take courses in Rome. Before my academic year starts, I'm visiting a friend who is working at the university of Padua and I want to take this opportunity to already get familiar to the Italian style of live and to get to know some interesting people who I would otherwise not encounter.

I have never couchsurfed in my live (I always booked AirBnB's) but now that I'm traveling alone and my friend is working the whole day, this seemed the perfect opportunity for me to try this new concept out and get to know some people. I hope to exchange nice stories and experiences and to have a good time.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music depends on my mood but most of the time I'm a big fan of 'The Foo Fighters', 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' and 'The Kooks'. I can also enjoy of 'Imagine Dragons' and 'Coldplay'.

I'm not a big movie fan but recently I have enjoyed 'The Martian' and the James Bond films with Daniel Craig. 'm a very big fan of the TV serie 'Friends'.

Due to my studies in which I put a lot of effort, I don't find enough time to read but when I read I can enjoy the novels of Dan Brown. He's without any doubt my favorite writer. Also the book 'The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared' from Jonas Jonassen was a book that I surely liked.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year in September I have backpacked the West Highland Way (152km) with a tent and all of our stuff in a backpack in 5-6 days and at the end climbed on the Ben Nevis with 2 mates. It was a wonderful experience next to beautiful scenery with a lot of beautiful memories and a trip that I can most surely recommend to everyone!
