About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To give of my talents, skills, abilities, understandings, expertise in the most open and valuable way possible at every opportunity. To be as loving (appreciative) as possible of everyone I meet and everyone I think of. To continue learning until the moment I croak.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a farm. I'm glad I did.

I love to sing. I love to feel the tingles associated with breathing freely and deeply. I love to listen to people describe their passions and enthusiasms and see them engaged in them.

I enjoy being playful with people. Exactly what we're doing isn't as important to me as how good were feeling while were doing it. It could be playing video games, tabletop games, word or math games. It could be walking down a sidewalk or through a forest. Talking at 3am lying on our backs in bunk beds, still wide awake. Listen to and singing/playing with music. Making and/or eating food. Sitting in easy, calm, contended silence.

There's plenty more about me. You can feel free to ask, and maybe I'll eventually add more here.

PHILOSOPHY

Be impeccable with your word.
Don't take anything personally.
Don't make assumptions.
Always do your best (and be aware that it will vary).

From "The Four Agreements" by Miguel Ruiz

I'm not in line with these all the time. Yet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far only surfing. I could host now (house-sitting/renting) but haven't yet set it up or readied that part of my Couchsurfing profile.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent time in January of 2008 in Northampton, Massachusetts at two different cooperatives while I took part in a practitioner training there at Somatic Systems Institute.

One of the people I first stayed with was Jason Woofenden. He was my CouchSurfing connection there. A person I met at the other place was one of the founders or programmers or had some part in the early creation and maintenance of CouchSurfing.com. I also participated in a group sing (my first :) ) there.

I look forward to learning more about all the friends all over who I haven't met yet. :D

Interests

Singing; reading; writing; watching and sharing my experiences of movies and music and the things that I find exciting and intriguing and enthusing; listening to others share the same; staying current with popular music and culture (including politics, to an extent) enough that I understand most of the jokes and parodies I encounter; sharing the existence and experience of Clinical Somatics with whoever is interested; making the best use of this instrument of being ("soma," "body," etc.) for the time that I have use of it; ...

MOVIES: Moulin Rouge, Paul, Newsies, The Power of One, Radio, Tron: Legacy, Across The Universe

MUSIC: Sarah Jarosz, Nickel Creek, Garth Brooks, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, some Justin Bieber, much of the "once" soundtrack, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I felt a charge from a lightning strike while I went naked out into a rainstorm out behind my parents' house several years ago. How's that for unexpected!? For me AND you! HA! :o)

Teach, Learn, Share

Clinical Somatic Education (CSE) - bones move where muscles pull them, and we (are meant to) control our muscles via our brain and somatic nervous system. We can regain control of our muscles and restore a huge portion of our overall health by learning about and using the process of CSE (you can ask me questions or start to learn more on your own via somatics.org and Facebook.com/FostoriaSomatics).

Instead of distinct minds and bodies (emotional, energy, etc.) we are whole "somas." Soma - the "body" (and mind, etc.) as experienced from within. We see each other as bodies from the outside. We experience ourselves as somas from the inside.

CSE involves learning about and making the changes from within that can only be made from within, by our own power of attention, movement, and awareness.

That's a good start... (I like the idea of this CouchSurfing University!!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A smile.

A silent appreciative thought.

A laugh.

A hug.

An experience of Clinical Somatics. A session or guided lesson.
