About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Rémi. I am 38 years old and I'm from Québec, Canada (the french part). I travel with my girlfriend Annick. We've been together for 15 years this year.

I could describe myself as an easy-living guy, curious, respectful and a funny person who likes to laugh and talk with others.

I like to listen to music, read, watch movies/tv series. I also like to go hiking sometime, go camping and I enjoy being outside. I surf once in San Diego and it was a very nice experience but harder than I expected.

I also like to cook different meals. I like all kind of food: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, middle east and Vietnamese food. I am also open to discover new meals that I never tasted before and I think travelling is a good way to do that.

I am somebody who really enjoy life and what's come with it. We only have one life to live so we have to enjoy every moment of it.

It would be my pleasure to meet you. We could be able to talk, listen to music, enjoy a good meals and learn for each others.

See you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people and discuss with them about every kind of subjects.

My girlfriend and I love to meet people who come from other countries and learn from them. We want to see different way of living and thinking.

In general, I am a very curious person who loved to learn new things or improve my knowledge on subjects that I know or thought I knew. My girlfriend Annick love to challenge herself and she don't want to take shortcut or go the easy way.

Having discussions with people can also improve our english speaking and understanding. Our first langage is french and we don't always have a lot of occasions to speak english in Québec.

When I travelled, I like to meet people who know the city or the country we are in. They can tell us about the story of their country, their habits, their culture and what they like about it. We can even discuss also about both of our countries and learn from each other.

I think both people can learn from an experience like Couchsurfing. It is a really nice way to travel and to meet new people from everywhere in the world. A good way to make new friends!

Maybe we will meet each other somewhere in a part of the world.

*** When I write to somebody on CS, I read the profil of the person entirely.I write only if I have common interests with the person or a good feeling. I take time to write my message so please be respectful and at least answer that you can't host me if it's the case. ***

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kind of music :

Rock, pop, indy, folk, punk, electro and movie soundtrack.

I don't have a kind of music that I prefer. If I like the beat or the voice I will listen to the song. But I alway tries to discover new artists and not just the commercial artists we hear on the public radio. I'm also opened to international music (french, english, spanish and more).

Some bands that I like :

Vance joy, Franklin electric, Phillip Phillips, Mumford and sons, Bastille, Billy Talent, The 1975, MGMT, The lumineers, Folly and the hunter, 30 seconds to mars, City and color, Arcade fire, Bloc party and the list could go for a long time.

I'm also a fan of cinema and tv series. I like drama, comedy, action, science fiction and historic movies. I also enjoy a good evening at the movie theater once in a while.

Kind of movies I like : Race, The good lie, The adjustment bureau, Inception, Interstellar, The lincoln lawyer, Lord of the rings trilogy, Forest Gump, The green line, The dark knight trilogy (I like Christopher Nolan movies).

Before I could say that I wasn't really a reader. But since the last five-six years, I really began to read more. I like to read novels about life, police investigation, adventure and many more. When I love a book, I can read it in few says. It's pretty new to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My Girl and I began a nomad life in last August. We sold a lot of our material and put everything we owned in a small renting unit.

We decided to travel around Québec to see different places and take time with our friends and families. We also had the occasion to live two housesitting experiences. We really enjoy it! It was fun to take care of dogs and live in a new area. Last autumn, we had the occasion to do a housesitting in the Charlevoix area. It was great to live there during the colour season. What a great time with those 3 dogs!

On january, we took a plane to Vietnam. We since visited the country from south to north. We saw nice cities, really great landscape, eat delicious food and drank really good coffee (I'm really gonna miss it). We also meet nice people and try to connect with local people.

It was really a great trip! We now have to comeback to Canada. We're landing in Vancouver on april 16 and we would really love to meet new people and explore the area for fews weeks. It's a city that we reaaly love!

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe we can all learn from one another. During my trip to Vietnam, I took a class to learn how to make Vietnamese coffee. I'd be happy to show you how to make different styles of coffee.

It's a way to travel without leaving home, and it allows you to discover new drinks that not everyone knows about. I'm pretty sure my girlfriend would join us because she love the coffee in Vietnam just as me. ;)

I also enjoy cooking, video production and photography. I’d be happy to go on a photo walk so we can share tips and techniques.
