About Me

Adventurous golbal citizen who usually calls Victoria, BC home. Grew up on Canada's west-coast and as such am in love with hiking, camping, biking, skiing, mountaints, the ocean, and all the other incredible blessings it has to offer

Absolutely love meeting new people, especially those from different backgrounds and cultures than my own. On a life-long journey to constantly challenge my own world views and authenticaly try to understand and learn from those of others.

Non-judgemental, open-minded, constantly curious, and eternally optomisitic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a host: I've very lucky and privileged to live in Victoria and have an apartment there, and as find sharing my space with fellow travelers is my way of giving back and showing gratitude.

As a traveler: I am hoping to drastically increase the amount of traveling I do over the next 5-10 years and hosting on Couchsurfing is a great way to build an international network of new friends who can share their recommendations, and sometimes homes, when I visit their countries. Additionally, I think we gain so much personally, and as a global community, when we interact with those from different places, cultures, and backgrounds than our own.

Interests

Sports/Activities: Aside from fantastical festivals and grungy basement electro clubs, my favourite place to be in the world is in the great outdoors. Skiing, snowboarding, camping, biking, these are things that make me feel as good as music does.

Food/Drink: Like most, I won't say no to a good meal or glass of beer or whisky. Big fan of the ever-expanding craft beer scenes cropping up all over the world. Really enjoy cooking big group meals and making new friends over good food.

Philosophy/politics: If you are the quiet type I am happy to entertain myself by exploring your city or reading a book, but if you like to talk about the big things in life.....I will happily discuss politics, global affairs, philosophy, climate change, futurology, artificial intelligence, post-capitalism, post-democracy etc into the wee hours of the night. I try my best to have respect for all peoples' idealogies, religions, political beliefs, and personal philosophies and am always keen to learn and look at things from another person's perspective.

Communal living: I am very interested in the future of how we will live, particularly in topics such as communal/co-habitation, sustainable and off-grid living, small-scale automated food production, nomadic vs sedentary living, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music of all forms, and play guitar, bass, and ukulele. Music festivals and live music shows are my nirvana. There are few genres I don't like but some of the favourites are blues, classic rock, deep house, trip hop, hip hop, french/disco house, electronica, trance/progressive house, americana, bluegrass GOOD country (aka classic country)....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favourite travel experiences of all time was scootering through the jungles hills of Thailand from Pai to Chiang Mai.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Guitar (always down for a good jam)!

Learn: Pretty much anything.

Share: My home, and if it's the weekend I'll cook up a big brunch.
