About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet new people, eat good food, have fun!

ABOUT ME

Grad school takes over most of my life right now, but I do make time for some other things. I like reading, swimming, baking, and going to the farmer's market. My fiance does most of the cooking with the stuff we buy and I help chop things.
We try to support local farms in our area, where there are actually lots of them. We belong to a CSA (community supported agriculture) and shop at the farmers market. Email me if you don't know what a CSA is, it is the best way to get great produce!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just joined couchsurfing, so I hope to meet some people in my area who are involved. It seems like a great way to meet new people and learn new things here and around the world.

Interests

I love going to festivals and farmers markets. I like to read, swim, and do ceramics. I've been taking classes on how to use the potter's wheel, and so far I've made a few ugly bowls :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I just read a great book called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. It's about science but also about people, and I'd recommend it to both scientists and nonscientists. I've also recently been reading some books by Peter Mayle, who is a great writer. I also love Michael Pollan's books. He writes about food, but he makes it very interesting!
My favorite band is Guster. Their music is great, and they do a lot to help to environment and the world.
I don't watch a lot of movies, but I do have some classic favorites, even if they are old: Back to the Future (all of them, but 2 is the best), The Princess Bride, and probably some others I can't think of right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is seen the pyramids of Giza and camped overnight (with a guide) in the Western Desert in Egypt.
I also saw a whole island full of penguins in Chile...maybe not amazing, but pretty cool.
