About Me

to be on the road at least 50 percent of the time

I am a quiet person but once you get to know me you will enjoy the variety of interests that I have.
I love to help people and have made charitable trips to countries with donations.
I am an active person and am always looking for adventures, like climbing hills and zip lining, walking up waterfalls or countless stairs just to see the view!
I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner but I don't go out just to drink or party.
I love chocolate especially chocolate icecream.

I love nature in all it's infinite variety!
I travel and take photographs wherever I go!
There are so many beautiful things to capture on film!
My philosophy is to get in touch with what is really important...appreciating the moment NOW... because that is all we are sure of. I feel closest to the Devine when surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

September 2013: I spent several days in Mooseonee trying to see some Aurora! No luck, but I did meet fellow CSer Susan and it was wonderful sharing travel stories with her.

August 2013: I visited Lithuania and stayed with Andrius Cepaitis while in Kaunas. He was an amazing host and took time to show me so much of his city. then I stayed with Ruta in Klaipeda! Again another amazing experience. I loved my time in Lithuania and my CS hosts made it memorable!

October 2012: in Muenchen I stayed with Bettina Fetzer and then with Michael Amberger. In Regensburg I stayed with Yvonne Kutz. In Passau I was hosted by Christian Lichtenauer. In Alttoeting I stayed with Elke Horneber + Martin Pfaller. In Saltzburg I was hosted by Julia Demel. In Rosenheim I stayed with Maria Robichaud, and in Prien I was hosted by Brigitta Zinsser. Thanks to everyone who made my adventure in Bavaria such a memorable trip.

September 2012: in Haugeshund Norway my sister and I stayed with James and Greta and their family for 2 nights. Met Frank Reichel in Oslo for a coffee!
August2012: in Dundee Scotland; Stayed with Michael for 3 nights, had coffee and a short sightseeing trip with Ailie
In Aberdeen Scotland; I stayed with Naill for 2 nights
July 2012: Hosted Gabriella from Rome Italy for 3 nights
Hosted Eul from Seoul Korea for 1 night
June 2012: Hosted Pavel from Darwind Australia for 6 nights
April 2012: Hosted Alina from Germany for 2 nights
Surfed with Safariroad in Hamilton for 3 nights - where I searched for waterfalls.
Dec 2011 - hosted a young man for 3 weeks while he looked for an apartment in Toronto
Nov 2011 - hosted a young person for 1 week while they waited for their new apartment to be painted.
June 2011 - surfed with Crispin in Christchuch 1 night
April 2011 - hosted Felix from Germany for 5 nights while he explored Toronto

As a host: Most of my experiences to date have been quite positive and I have meet some wonderful people! I enjoy helping people to see my home city Toronto and give them advice on how to get around. I also really enjoy visiting with other hosts and sharing stories with them!

However I have also had an experience where I felt taken advantage of. Because of this I have learnt that it is best to be very specific regarding details and expectations.

As a surfer: I am blessed in that I have met and stayed with many wonderful people! I feel that joining this group was one of the best things that I could have done!! To be in a strange land, far away from home, and meet wonderful, kind, generous people makes an adventure very special indeed. Having company in the evening rather than sitting alone in a hotel room is a blessing!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read and now I also am working on developing my writing skills! My special interests are Science Fiction and Historical Fiction.
I was raised with Classical music but I enjoy infinite variety now!
Movies I don't have much time for as I am usually to busy. :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Medicine Mountain in Wyoming was one of those moments that left a lasting impression on me. It was not only beautiful but the spiritual significance of the Medicine Wheel that is located there moved me deeply.
Another place that holds a special place in my heart is Cape Breton Island in the National Park. The look outs to the St Lawrence River were divine.
A third place I that simply enthralled me was in Whitby England, the ruins of the old abbey on the hill.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just completed a course on Teaching English as a foreign language, and gladly help people with the skill any time. I am also looking forward to using this skill on my travels.
