About Me

Hey, my name is Rens and I am currently doing a master in humanistic studies.
My aim in life is to grow and learn from other people, experiences and see life as an experiment where I can figure out what I like and don't like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet local people and experience the cities I visit in a different way than normal tourists do.

I wish to become a host myself once I have a stable home. This way I can meet more people and show them the beautiful city I live in!

Interests

Sports: trying new sports and being active and healthy to have more energy throughout the days!
Nutrition: learning about what effects food has on our body.
Cooking!: I love to cook for other people, trying new recipe's, adjusting recipes and thinking of my own recipes. I love to share what I cook.
Travelling: Seeing new places, meeting new people, experiencing new things and enjoy life!
trying new things I haven't done before so I can get a new experience and find out what I like and don't like.
I love to explore nature. Taking time to hike, motorcycle or paddle bike through the beautiful nature or just sitting in a spot and enjoying the view!
Dancing! currently following classes for salsa and blues dancing. The more people I see dancing the more excited I get to learn more different types of dancing and just have fun and feel the music!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Art of Stillness: Adventures in going nowhere. Haruki Murakami - Kafka on the shore. Ken Follet - Pillars of the Earth - Aldous Huxley - Brave new world

I don't go to or watch movies at home very often but when I watch a movie they are usually arthouse movies. The ones really liked was The Enigma Code, Mr Holmes, Neruda, Captain Fantastic, Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It might not seem big to you, but definitely was big for me. I challenged my fears and went on a solo trip for 6-8 months through south-east asia. Since then I have only continued to try and challenge my fears.

Another thing I am very proud of is attending a 10 day Vipassana course and writing my experience and what I learned in an article. you can read this on; https://medium.com/@rensklein/10-days-of-focus-e59ce6f23821#.ghbavccro

Never driven a motorbike before going on my adventure through south-east asia. I have made and completed my goal of driving one in each country. Driving through the lonely mountains on the ho chi minh road close to the laos border and driving through the chaotic traffic in Ho Chi Minh City during christmas and new years are certainly moments I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that every time I meet new people or have a new experience I learn something new. With this life philosophy I try to see everything as an experiment.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Amazing travel stories, my love for cooking, dance parties, nature walks, city hopping and much more!
