About Me

Hey there!

I'm a student from Berlin but living in KL at the moment for an internship. I like to meet new people and learn their stories. I am an open person and I have an international background. I was born in the Netherlands, my nationality is Indonesian and I've been living in Germany for the past 7 years. I had lived in a couple of other countries as well, such as Spain and Irak (yes, Iraq. That was an unforgettable experience).

I am interested in social issues, such as women and LGBT rights. I participated in the Women's march in Jakarta. It was a small scale protest but colourful. Not only women from different NGOs but also people from the trans and gay community who filled the event with empowering speeches and fun dances.

I'm outgoing yet introvert, talkative yet quiet (depends on the situation, but mostly talkative), enjoy company of people but not intrusive. So, overall I'm not annoying and quite adventurous (this is for you, potential hosts!). According to my mom, I'm also likable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To learn other cultures. Travel like a local. To have someone to share your knowledge and experiences with. To show your world to someone foreign that might appreciate it.

Traveling is not about ticking off famous tourist destinations in your bucket list but about expanding my horizon. I've met very nice helpful people through CS and it gives me more faith in humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: all kinds of music, from rock to house, from chill to techno. (depends on the mood I guess). My Discover Weekly playlist from Spotify can be awesome.

Movies: Psychological thriller movies, movies that make you "what the f was that?!", cartoon series (Bob's Burgers, Bojack Horseman, Major Lazer,...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Staying alive.

Just kidding.

Well, that is something amazing too. Life is amazing. I would say, still pursuing my masters degree at 26 while the majority of my high school friends are married and have a steady job. That's not that amazing I suppose.

Maybe that time I rescued a kitten from a sewer once.

Oh, I have backpacked solo. Most of the time I travel alone and love every moment of it. When I visited Weh island, someone took me around the island with his motorbike for nothing in return. He even refused my money to pay for our lunch. This is not the amazing thing I did, but him. Thank you, Pak Rizal!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some languages, knitting.

I love to learn cooking! Cooking is I think the best way to bond with people you barely know. I cook a lot myself and regularly organized cooking nights with my friends/flat mates. I am very adventurous with taste and I want to learn food from other cultures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of my life. Food.
