I am just another random person with vivid interests. I am from Hyderabad. Moved to Ahmedabad ten months back to work with Teach for India! I work as a teacher to an awesome bunch of 26 little second graders in the Bombay Hotel Area close to Chandola Lake. These kids helped me find my best self! And if I start talking about them, I NEVER stop! :D

Apart from that, Carnatic Music is my passion and I absolutely love it. Each time I am idle or absorbed too much by something, my hand puts a random talam and my mind keeps humming raagas all day. Also, I love movies and I absolutely LOVE food! I also am interested in fine arts, performing arts. I have this newfound love for theatre! I did not travel much but I also love the idea of traveling, meeting new people, sharing experiences. I believe life is amazing and more people you meet, more stories you hear and more awesome it gets! :)

Finally, I live every single day of my life as if I were a part of a book or a movie, so I try to make every day extremely interesting :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be very honest, I am here because I want to meet people, hear their stories and take it to my classroom. I always lived in Hyderabad and I know tons of people there. I moved to Ahmedabad to see if I can live independently, I am doing quite well! But I know nobody here apart from my colleagues! Considering the place, the social and the economic conditions my students live in, they know very little about the possibilities that exist in the outside world. I want to get people into my classroom and I want them to share their stories, their passions, their interests and so on with my kids and give them an understanding of what a vivid place the world is. It could be people who travel, artists, singers, photographers, people exploring life, people who are happy with their work, anybody! That is my major 'why' and other reason is I want to meet people. For I believe, every person has a story that can change your life :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy authentic music. As I mentioned earlier, Carnatic Music is something I love the most and I can go on and on talking about it. I enjoy Rabindra Sangeet, Hindustani music, Folk music! Anything that is authentic and reflects culture and life! Musicians I love are a lot! I love Sudha Ragunathan, Ranjani Gayatri, Priya Sisters, Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Gayatri Girish, Subha Mudgal, Nirali Kartik, Kaushiki Chakrabarty, A R Rahman, so on and so forth!

Movies that make me think, that inspire me and that rejuvenate the emotions in me are the ones I love the most. I love Aparna Sen's and Rituparno Ghosh's movies. To list a few of my favorite movies: Mr and Mrs Iyer, Raincoat, Bariwali, Morning Raga, Vanaprastham, Lagaan, Swades, The Last Lear, Julie and Julia, Mona Lisa Smile, Dead Poets' Society, Freedom Writers, The Japanese Wife, Memoirs of a Geisha, Anand (The Telugu Movie), Godavari, Seetharamayyagari Manavaraalu and yeah, the list is really long!

I love watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S! I watched it a hundred times and I'll watch it a thousand times!

I read books but I am not an avid reader. I prefer reading Indian Fiction. I love Sudha Murty's books the most!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Joined Teach For India. That CHANGED everything in my life. Everything I ever wanted to be, this opportunity has given it to me. I know the two years of this fellowship are the BEST two years of my life.
