About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be the one who....????

I have become a "slow traveler" over the last 10 years. I stay in countries for extended periods when I can and the budget allows. I really like to immerse in my destinations and see and learn how locals live.

I am always in exploratory mode; whether traveling or other life's pursuits. A lifelong student!! Travel is essential for this. Here at home I also do a fair amount pet/house sitting. I used to teach elementary special education in an inner-city school and I coached/ran an after school program focused on soccer (football) for fourth, fifth and sixth graders at the same school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I eagerly hosted many travelers. Currently traveling so I look forward to utilizing CS project to research and facilitate my future travels and contribute to the CS community any way I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted more than I have been a guest. ALL of my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.

Interests

I am passionate about teaching, photography, traveling, reading, poetry, philosophy, music, religions, politics (international especially) art, history, fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, sociological studies, economics (especially behavioral), linguistics, and sciences. I also love, film, live music and art in various mediums. Love most sports.
I try to really immerse myself wherever I visit (music, politics, history, food, language etc.) Culture!!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Love most genres of music and have an extensive collection of music. Live music is great! Music is the best!
Love all kinds of cinema from around the world; preferably something meaningful. A large budget does not mean a quality/meaningful film. But sometimes the big budget is candy for the mind. Some favorites on the meaningful end include The Road Warrior, La Strata, Wings of Desire, Amelie, The Motorcycle Diaries, Y Tu Mama Tambien to name a few but there is so many more!!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with migrating humpback whales in Tonga.
