To communicate with and enjoy meeting people from many cultures.

ABOUT ME
Age is only a number, I am full of energy and young in mind and body.
I am always happy to meet people of both genders, all races, sexual preference etc.; as long as they have something to say I listen and I respect different views from that of my own left wing perspective.
I love cooking, enjoy red wine, real ale and cider; my passion is travel especially in Europe.
I love music, Rock/Blues and Folk are my favourites but I have eclectic tastes.
Nowadays I watch sport, Rugby Union, Football and Cricket those that interest me most.
I live alone now after a failed marriage, I have four children , two in their 30's that I don't see, but two teenage daughters who keep me "young".

PHILOSOPHY

Left wing, lapsed atheist. Tolerant and respectful of most views though I find racism and sexism disturbing.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am happy to host travellers of either sex especially from abroad probably a maximum of 2 at a time. I will normally request a minimum of two nights stay. I ask this to deter those (many of whom seem to be from the showbiz fraternity) who wish to treat my home as a free hotel. Unless you are seeking interesting conversation and true "couchsurfing" friendship, then please do not apply.
I will be visiting Europe soon and would hope to find hosts as "generous" with their "couch" and time as I am

I am a skilled listener as well as an experienced "life liver".I have good geographical understanding and a comprehensive knowledge of beer and cider worldwide.
I speak French & German , long after being fluent at school, but will improve with use.

I believe that everyone has an interesting tale to tell; I'm no different as I have lived through the years of austerity, the cold war and the premiership of one Margaret Hilda Thatcher and her attempt to destroy those of us who disagreed with her. So of course living through those pages of history and in my own small way a "history maker" can lead to long discussions over a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
Night clubs and "ritzy bars" are not my thing; I enjoy meeting people and trying to understanding what interests and motivates them . I remember every couchsurfer I have met and I'm sure they will remember me!
