Overview
About Me
I'm a laid back kind of lady that is able to find joy in the smallest of places. I work in the Education field and am also a writer - when I am able to find paper and a pen!
I finished my first degree in Secondary Education in 2014 from the University of Regina. Soon after, I headed back to my hometown of Gronlid (population 60!!) to teach the Senior Humanities and Middle Years Health classes. I have loved being home, but it's time for the next adventure! I've returned to Regina to pursue my Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Creative Writing!) and am working as a high school teacher-librarian until summer 2016. Hopefully some more opportunities come my way and I can continue to teach what I am passionate about to kids I adore!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've had a few friends use couchsurfing across Europe, and they met some pretty rad people. I'm in constant awe of the depth and breadth of the human experience, so being able to experience it first hand (from a couch) is the best idea!
Interests
While I love these intellectual ventures, I also take great pride in creative physical ventures as well! I am an avid dancer (by no means professional; by all means recreational) as I was in Ukrainian dance for 8 years, and I have also developed a recent love for Yoga and BeachBody programs. In fact, I'll be a BeachBody coach by the end of June! :)
Growing up in a rural community afforded me many opportunities to explore the northern part of the province of Saskatchewan, with its many lakes, streams, rivers, and parks. I have hiked, biked, canoed, kayaked, swam, ATVed, snowmobiled, cross-country skied, and snowboarded many miles of this beautiful place I call home! The outdoors continue to enthrall me each day, no matter the weather or destination!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Mel Brooks anything, Star Wars, LotR, V for Vendetta, Jurassic World, Wayne's World
Music: Anything I can get my ears on; I'm poor at discriminating based on genre. I was raised with classic rock and blues so that's a big thing for me! SRV, Steve Miller, Lukas Nelson, Santana, etc.
Books: I'm currently attempting a list of classic reads, which is taking me everywhere! Finishing some Hemingway and Bradbury, next off to try the Bronte sisters and Wilde. Fitzgerald holds a special place in my heart for his poetic prose.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I left behind a permanent teaching contract with a great paycheck to go back to school and pursue my dreams - so far, the payoff has been grand!
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach what I know, but I listen to learn. I'm a "sharing is caring" kind of person, so I'll share stories and joke around with the best of them! I'd love to email, Skype, or sit and chat with you further if you would like! I'm looking forward to meeting you and letting you see some of my apologetic Canadian charm! Cheers, friends! :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share in any household duties like dishes, laundry, and general cleaning, and I can pet sit if you have to head out. I can't play music terribly well, but I do enjoy singing and writing, so perhaps you'll get a small poem written in your honour! :)
