About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It's pretty simple right now: Explore, meet people, have fun... and see if I can make a living at the same time!

ABOUT ME

I'm about learning and growing, and enjoying my life. For the last several years I was working on "e-learning" for a number of companies. I liked most of the work, but what is was used for (training pharmaceutical reps)... eh, not so much.

I have some ideas that I want to express in a creative way. Especially people's stories (including my own). I'm not really sure what form this will take, but I want to explore the idea and integrate it into my travels.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a big believer in "work to live" rather than "live to work." I have found that when it was the other way around (work, work, work) that I lost part of who I really am. So, now I'm "working" on getting ME back!

Yin/yang pretty well sums it up: Work/play, city/nature, party/time alone. I like all of these things, but, to me, they are better when in balance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm traveling for a while. Since I left New Jersey in October, I haven't had a permanent base. Which is probably just as well, since I'd be paying a rent/mortgage on someplace that I wouldn't be at. If I find someplace to stay for a bit, I'll make a couch available.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For the past 2 years, I've mainly been traveling about, sometimes stopping for a few months to work. A lot of it has been on the road in the US (just got back from a 3 month, 25 state + Ontario loop). A lot of it has been staying with friends and family and such... sometimes new people that I meet.

Interests

Outdoorsy stuff:
Things like sea kayaking, hiking, trekking, camping, exploring.

And also the indoors kind of thing:
getting a drink with friends, going to see live music, going to museums, movies, theater...

Traveling is really my big thing and I have to say that my absolute favorite part is meeting new people. I love to hear what they have to say, and to compare notes with "fellow travelers."

Teach, Learn, Share

Probably the biggest area where I could really help out others is with web development stuff. I've got a decent handle on it from a coding perspective... not as good from the design side of things. I like to help other people learn. One of these things where you can feel the tingle in your spine if you do it right!

The other area where I could probably do some teaching would be with the English language. I've thought about getting certified as an English language instructor, but think I'm probably too short of time before my next trip... And other languages are what I really want to learn the most. Oh! And different cooking styles, too!
