ABOUT ME

Easy-going, sincere, and generally quiet unless I have something of substance to say. I'm a student transferring into my first year at the University of British Columbia (my route through post-secondary has been a bit circuitous), and I am the chair of the BC Green constituency association in Vancouver-False Creek.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life, and try to leave the people you knew in better condition for having known you.

There are two things in life worth pursuing: truth and beauty. My overarching goal in life is to discover what things are true and model my life after them to the extent that I can, and to experience what beauty the universe has to offer - from an ocean sunset to the elegance and intricacy of the human brain (observations of which are based on scientific truth) to the beauty of an old growth forest, or sitting with a First Nations elder and hearing them impart wisdom and teachings.

Totally new to couchsurfing, registered because I thought it might be a good way to meet rad people and travel on the cheap.

I tend to be rather political. I'm quite passionate about Canadian politics, and conceive of politics as a way to advocate for change for my neighbors who may not be so fortunate. I'm also quite an environmentalist.

I love science fiction (Firefly and anything by Joss Whedon), and am rather nerdy.

I was certified as a SCUBA diver on the Great Barrier Reef (since let my certification lapse, unfortunately, since diving in the Pacific Northwest is a whole different animal than doing so in the tropics).
