I decided that 18 years are not enough to choose what I will make the rest of my life. Before I wanted to explore another country. The European Voluntary Service (EVS) lead me out of my beautiful hometown Würzburg to the compared small Tukums in Latvia. I worked there in a Youth Center with the special target group of social excluded youngsters for 9 months. Even though also this time was over at a certain point, I manage to go back over and over again. I just fell in love with a country I might have never visited without that experience.

At the moment I'm back in my hometown studying Geography. My free days I like to use for smaller or larger trips. The nature is my favourite place to relax. Of course, it is also great to explore citys and see the different architecture, but a calm forest or beach is just magical. I often take my camera with me to capture this. My evenings I like to spend with friends just talking (in the summer especially in front of a bonfire or during BBQ) or playing board games. But a movie can also be relaxing. No matter if with the volleyball in the hands, the running shoes at the feet or the bike-saddle under the bum: Sports are ideal to focus again.

Nothing and noone can let you get a deeper insight into the culture of a country then people who actually live in it. It's always fun to meet new people, have nice conversations and get new ideas through hearing about experiences the others made. Most of the people in such a network are open minded and always in for fun adventures so why shouldn't we share them?

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

This EVS was the best decision I ever did. I met many open minded people who were in for honest and deep conversation about their experiences they made. I learned so much about different cultures and myself. I tackled myself with obstacles. Not only in my everyday life, also through searching directly for new adventures. One which will always stay in my mind is competing in a team in the Strong Race. Training all together for this and finally get through the finish line showed me what I'm able to do, if I want to do it.
