About Me
I was forced to move here from New Jersey when I was six so my father could escape my mother's relatives. I still miss the seasons.
When I was 8 a baseball hit my finger so hard while I was up to bat that the skin split and I fell to the floor before I could make it to first base. It took one stitch to sew it back up. The barbarian that performed the procedure felt it would be better to avoid using any local anesthetic.
I love the ocean.
Blue is my favorite color.
I lied about my age throughout high school because I was advanced a year and thought it would be a good way not to get beat up constantly. It was a good strategy.
I once dressed up as Prince for Halloween.
My favorite vehicle I ever owned was also the one I had for the least amount of time. It was an antique Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a hula girl on the dash. It went through quarts of oil faster than gallons of gas (and went through those pretty fast too), so I had to let her go.
My favorite camera is a Ukrainian knock-off of a Hasselblad called the Kiev 88. If that means anything to you, let's geek out.
It's hard to pick the prettiest sunset I ever saw, but the sunrise I witnessed at Joshua Tree National Park was definitely one of the best.
I think Ravens are beautiful intelligent creatures.
If I die and never see Africa, I'll feel cheated.
If you fall, I will probably laugh at you for days. But I'll also help you up to make sure you're ok.
I sometimes enjoy really bad movies more than really good ones.
I love a good book, but find it hard to find time to read.
I believe the internet has done equal good and harm to society.
When I was a child in New Jersey, I was blown away by my first visit to the Museum of Natural History in NYC. For many years, I wanted to become a Paleontologist. Part of me still does.
The best part of moving to Florida was lizards.
The movie Dead Poets Society made me want to be a writer.
I'm listed on IMDB. (Another geeky reference)
I used to hate palm trees. But now I've grown to like them. Go figure.
My father has this amazing green thumb. It's like he can spit seeds out of his mouth into the yard and in a couple of days there's a tree there. No matter how hard I try, I kill everything I plant.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Now that I'm divorced and have been on my own for 2 years. I'm looking to start traveling around the world. Problem is, I'm not a typical tourist. I don't care about the spots everyone goes to. I like to go to a place and have friends there ahead of time and see that part of the world through their eyes, experience something real. Something I'll never forget and make lifelong friends in the process (hopefully)
