About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Education through travel and being with others.

ABOUT ME

I am a jovial, compassionate, passionate, loving, happy man. I have as of 19 January embarked on an open-ended journey starting with Hong Kong and then Chiang Mai, Thailand. A self-employed business owner for 24 years, my experience includes massage therapy, management and sales, manufacturing and distribution, marketing, promotions, publicity, and a tihick enough skin to risk intelligently. I love to sing and dance and play percussion (I currently travel with a cajòn (box drum)). I appreciate quiet when I am sleeping. I love to eat great food slowly with friends. I am a garlic eater. I practice yoga and meditation and ecstatic dance for health. I identify with being a non-smoker, but at the present time I indulge in smoking clove cigarettes. I like hiking, white water rafting, bicycling, and cooking and gardening. I do not hesitate to smile and laugh with people I have just met. I am sometimes genuinely funny, but beware... many of my jokes are terribly corny. I leave no trace in the forest and I clean up after myself very well.

PHILOSOPHY

Meher Baba: "Don't worry, be happy."

Bill Moyers: "Do you ever have the sense of... being helped by hidden hands?"
Joseph Campbell: "All the time. It is miraculous. I even have a superstition that has grown on me as a result of invisible hands coming all the time — namely, that if you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and then open doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."

Henry David Thoreau: "I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Mahatma Gandhi: "If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I open my eyes in the morning, and it's a miracle all over again...
I left my home, got rid of many posessions, and hit the road. My life has grown into an exponentially more vivid experience because of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Y'know, there's no accounting for attraction, satisfaction and dissatisfaction except for in your mind. The fact that we are in contact right now about exactly this subject is, in my opinion, no simple coincidence. I choose to live my life consciously awake and alive, and it's scary to some folks because they are so locked into believing that their life is a set of mundane circumstances leading to a static existence and a boring, unexamined life and death. I'm here as a living example that it can be a totally different, joyous, courageous, life full of love, compassion and gratitude. No if's or but's about it... Only and's and more's. It's possible for you if you start to examine your thoughts and change your beliefs. If you start and continue just that, you will start to have experiences that bring you knowledge. Information is not knowledge, and only knowledge brings wisdom. Give up your need to satisfy other people's expectations. Start now, not tomorrow, to find out what you love to do and just go do it, fuck up, and try it again. Fall in love and get your heart broken again and again. Eventually you might fall in love with yourself, and in that, you'll begin to see that there's nothing but you "out there," just not who you think you are. You are a single point of expression of One Being, that ineffable non-stuff that religions and atheists name.
