I am Ricardo, I was born in Matosinhos, Porto (Portugal). I studied Criminology and when I finished my degree I realized that I did not want to start working in the area (there is not much work in the area). So, I decided to start traveling and living out of the country. I did some trips in Europe and then i decided to live in Spain for a while. I did a volunteer program (EVS) in Plasencia (Cáceres) for 10 months, where I worked in a psychiatric hospital. It was an incredible experience to get out of my comfort zone (both personally and professionally), meet people from all sides of Europe and develop myself as a human being.
As happens almost always after a great experience, I made great friends and did not want to stop traveling. I decided to take a month-long trip to visit friends in France, Italy and Germany. It was absolutely spectacular. When I returned to Portugal I started thinking about a new experience. It was then that I found the work of au pair in France, which I do today and that is in accordance with my desire to learn French.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and as such meet people from other backgrounds and cultures. Couchsurfing is a platform that allows you to do this either when traveling or when you are in your city and so it is super interesting to be part of this community.
