About Me

Hi! I'm Riccardo, from Turin, Italy.

I'm a 29 years old doctor and novice travel blogger with a passion for literature and photography. I like traveling and the best experience I can enjoy is connecting with the spirit of the place I'm visiting, discovering unexpected corners and exploring new cultures and ways of thinking.

I like making new friends and share adventures together. My idea of travel is to visit a city by foot, diving in the surrounding, or hire a car and travel along county roads. I like slow travel and the details of the places, touristic way to go I leave it to others.

I'll be glad to meet, just write me and ask :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I was in Taiwan, April 2023, I used this app a lot for the first time: it was amazing and definitely changed my experience of travel. Everyday I met some locals that shared his culture with me.
Now I'm here to offer what I got. Hope to help people and to spend time together, give tips, bring them to the truly unicity of my city.
And, obviously, to keep meeting new friends abroad :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been raised up with Italian classical books and English hard rock music, then grew a passion for Italian songwriters.
Now I read mostly Italian essays about the nowadays culture and trend, some pieces of theatre, some novels. One of my favorites writers: Mo Yan, Chinese Nobel prize winner. Kazuo Ishiguro: Anglo-Japanise Nobel prize winner. Antonio Tabucchi: Italian novelist and journalist from the XX century. And many others.
About movies: I try to go to cinema once a week or in two weeks. I like contemporary cinema, Italian and international, and I prefer essay's movies. Three favorites here: In the Mood for Love from Wong Kar Wai, Apocalypse Now from Francis Ford Coppola, Mullholland Drive from David Lynch.
Music: I like Italian and international pop. Open to news from foreign pop music culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone in Taiwan in April 2023 with a friend and there I moved through the country with trains and busses.
While I was in the city of Hualien - it was the Easter Day - , I rented a bike and went along the Pacific Coast, down the East Side National Scenic Area. It was amazing and I ended up in an aboriginal town.
Then, I had lunch, and I came back.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely cook some basic, but still good, Italian dishes.
Then, what I like most is to talk about literature and philosophy of life. I like to connect with the others and hear their stories and their thoughts. I'm also roughly good at photography.

What am I looking for?
For someone that bring me to special places, not touristic or overblown, that can help with the language (especially I'd like to learn some Chinese or Arabic) :)
