About Me

My name's Richard Cooper, I'm currently staying in Taiwan while applying for jobs in China (as an English teacher). Big fan of philosophical discussions and conversations, British sense of humor, having a cold beer or nice glass of wine and meeting random people, or just staying and enjoying a quiet night with a movie or a book.
I've decided that my purpose in life is to see, witness and experience the world and it's beauty (and, if I'm in the mood, it's harshness), which is why I'm currently aiming towards working abroad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing mainly to save on expenses during my stay in Taiwan, but a really big bonus is that I can meet different people like this and learn more about local culture(s).

Interests

Science (as in physics, astronomy, biology, etc.), Star Wars, psychology and philosophy, traveling, learning new things I general, other people's dreams and interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pff.. ehh.. Okay, music: Mumford and Sons, Foo Fighters, Kensington, Tim Vantol, Johnny Cash. Essentially any form of rock that doesn't involve nothing but screaming. And jazz.

Movies: Super Troopers, Hero (Quinten Tarantino), Equilibrium, City of Ember, Zombieland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 3 months as a volunteer teacher in Nepal, during which time I've trekked to the Everest Base Camp, went bungee jumping twice and white water rafting.

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know that it took YEARS before the Giant Tortoise got its scientific name? This is because they are so, so very edible, that every time an expedition crew took them from the Galapagos Islands back to Britain, they were eaten by the crew before the ship made it back to land!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good (hopefully) conversation and a healthy interest in learning. I might also have some Dutch Blend tea to share with you, if I haven't drunk it all before then.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, England, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Taiwan, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

Netherlands
