About Me

Middle aged, creative, ex-explorer of the world, ex-pat Londoner now living in Norwich, UK.

Love chat, learning new things, listening to people’s experiences, wordplay, crosswords, games, red wine, singing, old brown briefcases, proper letters, beer, found art, dancing (am rubbish), laughing, forgotten little alleyways in cities, canals and the night sky.

I haven’t been travelling for a while (young family put paid to that!) but I still carry that exploring mentality... new places, new people, new experiences. Love meeting new people and finding out their life stories. I also like talking about mine LOL

I was raised in London so I know it pretty well but there's always some left to explore and discover. I work in London two days a week and currently stay at the same place every week on the one night that I stay in town. It's getting a bit repetitive so this is my opportunity to get out and see a bit more of the world within the parameters of my life!

Ha! Sounds a bit sad now I've written that down. It's all good - just want to put myself in front of some new experiences. Get out, see some more of London, meet new people, see some music, have some drinks, have a laugh...

In my spare time, I have a demanding job which involves me making things look pretty. Check it out:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Have stayed on people's floors, sofas, laundry room (!) while I've been travelling so I'm used to the idea. Love the idea in fact.

I'm not doing a lot of travelling at the moment but looking for places to stay while I'm back in London for work. I'm pretty much always in town one night a week and stay over on a Tuesday. I'd much prefer to meet new people, stay in new parts of London than stay in a sterile hotel with no human interaction!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Belle and Sebastian, Hefner, Camera Obscura, Sodastream, Shins, Libertines PLUS countless other, much smaller bands you've probably never heard of.

Movies: Cohen Brothers, Withnail and I, The Third Man

Books: Catch 22, Ham on Rye, Remains of the Day, The Art of Looking Sideways, Down and Out in Paris and London.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled solo around the US - New York, Chicago and Boston. Not the most adventurous bit of travel I’ve done but it taught me that getting things done on your own and being self sufficient is not only a good thing to learn but an absolute blast as well.

Oh and I set up a graphic design company after graduated from art school which was also fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to learn some of any new language.

I can teach basic guitar and of course English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be very happy to provide a takeaway and/or beer/wine for any Couchsurfers kind enough to host me for a night (or similar goods to the same value. Terms and conditions apply LOL).

Guitar playing? :) Chats about life, creativity, travelling, politics (if we dare, lol).
