About Me

My girlfriend Alex and I are from Shannon in Ireland. We have lived in Toronto, Canada since 2011.

We love to travel and explore new places and we love making new friends along the way!

I'm an avid golfer and a soccer fan and both Alex and I love reading, eating (both eating out in fun new places and perfecting our cooking skills at home), hiking, learning about history, exploring cities and being outside in nature.

We love meeting new people and interacting with them to learn a little more about the new places we visit - locals always know best and we love getting recommendations for things we should see and do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to meet new people and get to know their favorite things to do and places to see in their locality. If there are local food traditions and dishes we should try we want to know about them! If there's some interesting local history we want to hear it, and if there's a local attraction we should know about we want to seek it out. We also want the chance to meet some kind and genuine people along the way and to learn more about the places we visit through the people who live there.

We have never traveled in this way and are excited to experience a different kind of travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a broad rage of taste in music - everything from classical music to classic rock. My radio is usually tuned into Classic Vinyl on Sirius XM. A good rule of thumb seems to be "was this released before I was born?"

I enjoy watching documentary films, and Ken Burns is my favourite documentary maker. I like to re-watch movies like Star Wars, The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction & The Godfather.

My favorite author is Ryan Holiday and I credit his books with pushing me to read more. I usually read non-fiction books but I have also recently enjoyed books like Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut and The Godfather by Mario Puzo (not only a great movie but the audiobook is well worth a listen).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did the edge-walk at the CN Tower in Toronto. I was truly terrified (and the evidence is captured on DVD) but the adrenaline rush was unbelievable. My only regret is that it was during Movember and I was rocking a pretty terrible handlebar mustache at the time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning tricks to improve my memory and I am happy to teach you a few... provided I can remember how!

I would like to learn about your culture, your local history and local food traditions (if you can share a recipe with me, all the better!)

I want to share a laugh with you and hopefully make a new friend along the way!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My curiosity and questions. My friendship and my food--we love to cook--maybe there is something you might like that we can make!
