Overview
About Me
Born and raised outside Washington DC. City boy at heart, but face the constant dilemma of wanting to live concurrently in the mountains and on the beach. I've lived at/in both, but never at the same time. Perhaps that's why I'm always traveling.
I live life on the fly and prefer to make plans by ear whenever possible; that's how the best stories come about after all. I'm empathetic and mostly agreeable - sometimes to a fault. I love meeting new people, exploring new places, evaluating new ideas, and seeking new interests. I'm very open minded, self aware (at least I like to think so), and rarely insecure.
I'm a backpacking outdoorsman some days, a tailored suit wearing city dweller other days, and during the rest, I can be found checking out live music in a t shirt and jeans at a small club. I'm a long distance runner, a traveling backpacker (both by hostel and by tent), a 90's Nickelodeon cartoon enthusiast, an amateur carpenter, a lousy mechanic, a morally-torn fisherman, a craft and Belgian beer nerd, an occasional yogi, and a terrible cook.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Have you ever felt stuck or trapped in the minutia of everyday life? I certainly have. After 11 years of working in the corporate world as an engineer, I needed a change. I wasn't happy. I wanted the freedom to go see the world on my own terms; not when work trips coincidentally coincided with places I've wanted to visit. I was flying out to a different city every Monday and flying home every Friday, but I rarely traveled if you know what I mean. As of three months ago, I submitted my resignation, sold off most of my possessions, and set out to see the world.
I'm currently traveling the West Coast of North America. Started in Seattle, originally intending to head South, but I got sidetracked by the beauty of Vancouver Island in British Columbia and have been here for two weeks as of 1/20. I'll be heading to Vancouver and then Portland, OR by the beginning of February.

An open mind, and a thirst for knowledge, and a love of the ridiculous. I enjoy meeting people from all sorts of different backgrounds.
