About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Some vague stuff about traveling, meeting people, expanding horizons, world domination or being open minded and easy going maybe? Not enough? Ahhh, well, let's do this profile thing then..

ABOUT ME

Hi. I'm a German dude living in my birth city of Leipzig again (after being abducted to Dresden for a while) since a few years. I'm a huge travel nut and crazy about seeing new places, meeting new, awesome people and getting involved in as many adventures as I possibly can. That's where Couchsurfing comes in and caters to all of my needs. I'm not above cracking bad jokes at every opportunity I get.

PHILOSOPHY

Friends are like potatoes, If you eat them they will die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because getting to know awesome, interesting and fun people is what I like the most, and CS helps me do exactly that!

Interests

I love to travel, three or four times a year if I can swing it. Like, seriously, I can not overemphasize the gravity of this. I'm NUTS about traveling. I like to socialize and go out with friends a lot, meeting new people and hanging out with own buddies. I read everything I can get my hands on, and I'm a bit of a movie/series nut. I love swimming, boxing, I parachute, and many other kinds of athletic activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: English Rock from the pre-millennium era
Movies: Oh, way too many, You know how it is. You'll have to figure it out when you are here, let's just watch one or two! Even better, lets watch it with friends!
Books: I read everything I can get into my fingers, and very rarely have I regretted having invested the time it took to read a book. But some of my favorite authors are: Orwell, Huxley, Simonov, Melville, von Kleist, and also some lighter entertainment literature, like our friend GRR Martin of course, ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cooked One-Minute-Rice in 51 seconds once! No? Not good enough? Ok then.

Hiked down into and back out of the Grand Canyon;
Crossed the international date line by sea (and subsequently got really confused what date it was);
Fought in the mountains of Afghanistan;
Crossed the Andes over the Inca Trail by foot;
Got volunteered to take part in a political rally by a Maoist militia in Nepal;
Drove through the Sahara desert with a Jeep;
Got drunk and ran from the Police with a guy named Igor I just met through the Metro of St. Petersburg;

Increasingly bizarre misadventures, including, but not limited to:
- Goblin encounters of the fourth kind in Amsterdam;
- That one party where we accidentally killed a goose;
- The Enigma of that one Mexican dude no one knew that made Popcorn for everyone;
- Stopping all traffic in central Dresden for 8 hours with a box of washing powder
- and first and foremost of all, "The Penguin incident"

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a fairly decent cook and love to share my delicious recipes and culinaric failures alike. But hey, that's boring as hell, everyone in this site writes "cooking!" How about I show you how to cheat at dice, find your cardinal direction without a compass by day and by night, catch fish without a fishing rod, start and keep a fire going even during rain, or a bunch of other semi-useful things I learned in the army?

What I Can Share with Hosts

The pleasure of my company of course, which I have been told is outstanding :D No, braggery aside, I love sharing little bits of my local culture. We'll get talking before, and we will figure something out that you'll like. :)
