About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Traveling about ayear in Latin America
ABOUT ME
I've been backpacking off and on for 40 years. This last journey has been about 7 years, in Asia, southern Africa, and South America. For the last 2 1/2 years, I've been living with my longtime Korean girlfriend in Chongqing, China. She stayed there to sell her business while I hit the road. I will travel in Latin America till I feel like stopping, maybe a year, maybe more, maybe less. Who knows?
PHILOSOPHY
I'm Buddhist inasmuch as I believe what goes around comes around. I think we have a next life every minute, that we aren't the same person our whole lives. In fact, we move from life to life all the time. This helps me in many ways. For example, when traveling it's easy for me to take it as it comes and move physically and mentally wherever the river takes me. My divergent mind loves to wander. I enjoy my untamed ox.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Oh, in some ways I'm pretty straight. In other ways, you might guess I'm not the average American. I consider myself a citizen of the world. I have been back to the US only a few months in the last 7 years.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I just signed up on couchsurfing.org Sept 9, 2011, but I have never used it and nobody contacted me for a cup of coffee ort a place to stay in Chongqing. Of course, in my 40 years of traveling, I've slept in many homes of all kinds, from village huts in Africa to convents to mansions. You meet a lot of interesting people.
Interests
Obviously, traveling is near and dear to my heart. After a couple of years of being more or less stable, |I'm traveling again. I like diverse experience. New things, new people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can read or see just about anything. Pulp is boring, though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's hard to say one thing. There is no one thing, you know. You build on what you've experienced. For me, I'd have to say it was my decision to not be middle class anymore and retire young. I feel like this latest phase of my life has been the best.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't know what to put in here. As I said before, I have a divergent mind. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience but, boy, is it filed randomly! I'm always interested in throwing some other thing in that drawer.
