Hello, my name is Richie. Lovely to meet you. I am a kinda young kinda not so young soul from the north of England. I like people and have a weird and somewhat unhealthy interest in almost everything. Learning is my favourite pastime and I do it everyday.

I have very recently qualified as an English teacher! My idea is to travel as much of Asia as my money allows and find one to make my new home. I also want to take some time and volunteer wherever possible and give back. Any advice on this would be most welcome.

I appreciate I have just begun my journey and don't have any references just yet, so I am more than happy to Skype or talk on the phone first of all. Hopefully you can look to trust me as I do you. I guess I just need someone to take a chance and then hopefully I can join this great community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The whole ethos is a natural fit to my core beliefs, the idea of opening up your home or others letting you in to share life; to give shelter and warmth. The fact that we will start as strangers makes the premise all the more beautiful.

I am in love with this whole premise and I can't wait to begin my quest to meet every single one of you. The idea of learning from you and your kin and being richer for it, is most exciting.

I've read so much about the world and the humans it contains. I want to it see for myself and meet it's people. ❤️️

Interests

Believe it or not this must be the hardest part to write. Both the easy and complex answer are the same; everything.

Currently I am wrapped up in geopolitics and piecing together answers through that gaze. I am fascinated and by politics, economics, sustainability and neuroscience and I have some great and interesting podcasts I'd love to share. What beats a thoroughly engaging discussion? Except one with wine 😉

My raison d'être is learning and understanding, being that I am but a child of science and reason. I have had a renaissance in life quite recently which has birthed an even stronger yearning of discovery and ultimately led me to travel...I am thrilled and excited to engage in intercultural exchange and enlightenment, post haste!

I am keen to further understand the mind through yoga and mediation and challenge myself. This is something I'd very much appreciate guidance with.

Both outside and inside of that my most treasured and
hearty interest...is you. Well, people. Being a person, you are included. I love conversation and connecting with people the world over; unequivocal acceptance for all. One of my proudest features is I can listen and talk with anyone, about anything, and discuss for days.

I also can't deny how much I love a good time!! Unadulterated fun is one of life's finest things and I have an open mind which I only ever want to expand.

Music, Movies, and Books

Avid reader, cinephile and music fiend. I studied film at university to boot. I enjoy Camus, Brautigan, Orwell, Chomsky and books on history, science and philosophy.

Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Leigh, Loach and Meadows are my filmmaker favourites. Plus a whole host of incredible world cinema.

Music is a huge part of life and my tastes is broad; but my heart beats to hip-hop, soul, jazz/funk. I also very much like to dance 💃🏼 !

What I Can Share with Hosts

Being gregarious and outgoing I can share my time, stories, good faith and free spirit. I am rich in all these things. Plus I make the worlds best scrambled eggs. Certified.

I am not just looking for a place to crash, the most important part is meeting you. I've read some bio's that make me want to go out of my way just to meet them!! Haha. So many likeminded people is a beautiful thing.

There's a saying up north "He's his mother's son" meaning I am very much like my mum. With respect to cleanliness and attitude towards your home you can expect to see my mother in me, which, is wonderful.
