Overview
About Me
Hi I am Richard and I'm currently studying sinology (China studies) at the local university in Leipzig.
I believe that I am a friendly and polite person.
In general I am very loose and in a funny mood. Although I can be pretty quiet and closed sometimes.
I tend to overthink decisions, but sometimes I am also open for spontaneous adventures.
Due to the whole Corona-Virus situation I had to come back from China earlier than planned. I am living with my parents for now and won't be able to host anyone at the moment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really like couchsurfing because it's a good tool to come in contact with local people as well as other travellers around the world. And this is always exciting.
And, I'm not gonna lie, it's also a good way to find a place to stay for free.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love Rock music, according to my mood I'm listening to different bands. My favorites are "The Doors", "The Beatles", "Led Zeppelin", "Deep Purple" and "AC/DC". I also enjoy listening to various soundtracks from time to time (The Lord of the Rings, Nightmare before Christmas ...)
My favorite movies are the Back to the Future-Trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Episode V+VI and Lemony Snicket - Unfortunate Events.
Books I really much enjoyed are the Harry Potter-series, LotR (again), 1984 and Crime and Punishment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had an amazing trip to Ireland in April 2018. I went together with some of my best friends. We rented a van here in Germany and were driving all the way to Ireland. The scenery was stunning and the hole journey was just an awesome experience.
The most exciting trip I did so far was the one to China in September 2018.
It was my first time travelling alone, my first time to visit China and also my first time doing couchsurfing. I met so many nice people and visited so many amazing sites, way too many to list them all here. But my favourites would probably be:
-the Great Wall, where I was hiking on a "wild" part together with a local and three other travellers (we were the only people there). The wall itself and the foggy forest around where just stunning. Also we had lots of fun together.
-the ancient city of Pingyao, I loved it to just walk around the small alleys where you wouldn't meet a single tourist. They were all on the main roads.
-Zhangjiajie national park
and
-the Huangshan (mountain)
Teach, Learn, Share
I might be able to teach you some german. But only on a basic level. If you are already familiar with german I can tell you what you could improve or explain you some german idioms. Though I have to say that I'm not trained at teaching german or any other language.
Of course I am also interested in improving my own language skills. My focus lies here on chinese, english, russian and greek.
Whatever country I am going to, I want to learn atleast some of their language and essential things about their culture.
I am always to have for sharing stories and knowledge.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a person with limited skills that could come in handy. But I know pretty much stuff. I like discussing various topics and I love learning new things about culture, language, history, science and so on...
