About Me

hey there,

my name is Rici. I'm curious about the world: What is it like now? How did it become that way? Where are we heading to? How can we make it a better place? I try to be open-minded as much as possible and to understand different perspectives of the world.
I am especially curious about natures, power structures, feminism, eco-philosophy, food systems, cultural landscapes and the deep interdependency of nature and culture.

These days I spend most of my days with my family and work life. In spring 2025 I started an education as a social and health care assistant. When I'm not in school or at work, I spend time with my kids (7 & 5), volunteering as a nature guide for families, doing creative projects or enjoying the beautiful natures nearby.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always meet nice, open-minded people. It's fun and exciting. The trust and help I experienced via couch surfing also helps me to keep an open heart, be hopeful and see things from different perspectives. Additionally, I would like my kids to experience and practice this by living in an open and welcoming home.

These years, I mostly want to give back and share our beautiful little home the way I have been invited so many times. I know that travelling with kids can be tricky. This is why I primarily want to invite families to stay with us.

These days I think a lot about how to implement my values in our little family life in a big city. It can be tricky ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Zines. I love all sorts of zines :)

Books:
All about love (Bell Hooks), Migritude (Shailja Patel), Whalerider (Witi Ihimarea), The sea around us (Rachel Carson), Under the sea-world (Rachel Carson), Poems by Ilja Ehrenburg
Environmental Culture (Val Plumwood), Feminism and the mastery of nature (Val Plumwood), Rationality and the ideology of disconnection (Michael Taylor), Normal Life (Dean Spade), Rethinking Environmental History, The ocean of life (Robert Callum).
But don't be fooled, more often than those types of books, I enjoy Children's books with beautiful illustrations and good stories, as well as reading Charlotte Stein, Olivia Dade, Ali Hazelwood and Katherine Center ;)

Movies I love to watch with my kids:
My Neighbour Totoro & The Sea Beast

*you might have noticed that I have no hair. This is caused by a non-contagious autoimmune condition called alopecia areata. It is the immune system mistakenly seeing my hair roots as foreign invaders and attacking them. That's what causes the hair loss. So bald spots on the head appear. My form is the most severe form of it. It's called alopecia areata universalis: I've lost nearly all my hair, including my eyebrows and eyelashes.

Generally, I like hair, but I'm fine without it as well :)

I find it really important that people know about it. This actually is a very common disease but for loads of different reasons most patients hide their bald spots or wear wigs. So you won't know that "nearly five million people in the United States alone are affected by alopecia areata, the same number as those who suffer from psoriasis."

If you'd like to read more about it I can recommend you listen to Anna explaining Alopecia to her school: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rlqh3DJzJqs or just ask me.

OK, that was my short alopecia awareness input.
I'm much more than that, but this is quite an interesting part of me that (sometimes) influences my life a lot.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am mostly looking to host families. We have all the gear and all the tips, and we don't mind the mess and the noise ;)

With us, you can enjoy a hangout on the playground, a walk in the forest, crab fishing at the beach or a cosy movie night.
We also know quite a lot of tips for exploring Copenhagen and the green areas outside of town with kids.

If you don't have kids and you think that we sound like fun people, you are very welcome to reach out to us. We can skip the playground ;)

I treat a guest and a host like a friend, and I hope we get to laugh together :)

Countries I’ve Lived In
